Xingbin Li to Lead AMT Reorganized Int’l Operations

  • Xingbin Li, previously AMT general manager – China, has been appointed international director – Asia/Pacific Region.
  • Carlos Mortera, previously AMT general manager – Mexico, has been appointed international director – Latin America Region.

With the pending retirements in early February of Knox Johnstone, global services director, AMT, and Mario Winterstein, global services director, AMT, both based in McLean, VA, this new internationally based team will assume responsibility for marketing, members’ business facilitation and operations on February 1, 2015.

Li’s oversight of the Asia/Pacific region includes AMT’s two Technical Centers in Shanghai, China, and Chennai, India. Li will also be responsible for engaging AMT members in the US and guiding them through the process of evaluating and planning how to market their respective products within the Asia region, as well as facilitating market entry and participation through a variety of channels. Li has been with AMT for over 20 years after a stint with China National Machine Tool Corp. He graduated from The Beijing University and holds a master’s degree from The University of Buffalo.

Mortera’s oversight of the Latin America region includes AMT’s two Technical Centers in Monterrey, Mexico, and Sorocaba, Brazil.

Mortera will continue to facilitate AMT member participation throughout the region, increase focus on the Brazilian market, as well as oversee the development of a new AMT members’ demonstration area at FACENS, an engineering university, also located in Sorocaba. Mortera has been with AMT for over 12 years and has spent his entire professional career in the manufacturing sector, with experience in both Mexico and Brazil. He graduated from the TEC de Monterrey (AMT’s partnering organization in Mexico).

Both Mortera and Li will report to Steve Lesnewich, vice president – Global Services, AMT.
