TROY, MI, Jan 9, 2015 – Altair announced that John Calabrese, former General Motors vice president of global vehicle engineering, will join a newly formed board of directors for Altair ProductDesign, a wholly owned subsidiary focused on product development, enterprise solutions, and customer site services. The board has been established for the US-based entity, but will guide all Altair consulting business initiatives around the world.
Calabrese’s career at General Motors spanned more than three decades and included multiple functional and operational roles across the company, culminating in his leadership of the company’s global vehicle engineering organization from 2011-2014.
“The role of Altair ProductDesign is to support and demonstrate Altair’s vision of how simulation-driven design radically improves the way companies design products and make decisions,” noted Mike Heskitt, chief operating officer of Altair ProductDesign. “Given Mr. Calabrese’s remarkable background in product engineering, his insights and guidance as a member of our board of directors will be invaluable.”

The board appointment is effective immediately. Calabrese holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University.
