Simmetrix Releases Simulation Modeling Suite 6.3
CLIFTON
PARK, NY, June 3, 2008 – Simmetrix Inc., the leading provider of
component software for simulation-based design and CAD/CAE
integration, today announced the release of Simulation Modeling
Suite 6.3.
To keep pace with the ever-expanding needs of the CAD/CAE market,
Simmetrix continues to respond with new innovations included in the
recently released Simulation Modeling Suite 6.3. One significant
enhancement is the extension of Abstract Modeling to include
Simmetrix’ innovative Abstract Reasoning methodology. The result of
this enhancement is the ability to minimize the requirement for
entity tagging in the source system. This revolutionary approach to
analysis modeling provides necessary support to Simulation-Based
Design, Design Space Exploration, Robust Engineering, and Simulation
Data Management.
A second significant enhancement is the definition of
simulation-related model data which provides required data often
missing in design data (e.g., capping faces, bounding boxes,
bounding spheres, bounding cylinders, etc.). Combined with
Simmetrix’ unique capability to create inverse volume data, this is
a significant breakthrough for utilizing mechanical assembly data
for far field physics simulations such as Computational Fluid
Dynamics (CFD), Electro-Magnetic (EM), Radiation, and many others.
Another significant enhancement is the availability of
multi-threaded and MPI-based parallel mesh generation providing
scalable performance for increasing mesh size requirements from
millions to hundreds of millions of elements (or cells). The
multi-threaded meshing technology allows for ongoing meshing
performance improvements based on today’s multi-core desktop
workstation architectures.
“Simulation Modeling Suite 6.3 is an amazing breakthrough release
offering the most comprehensive toolkits available today for
simulation modeling,” says Joe Walsh, VP of Business Development at
Simmetrix Inc. “The extended geometry support, the introduction of
parallel mesh generation and the definition of simulation-related
data in this release provides our licensees with unprecedented
capabilities for development of advanced simulation applications.”
Other enhancements to the geometry access technology include
enhanced assembly modeling, upgraded modeling kernel interfaces,
extended CAD interfaces, and improved use of discrete (STL, mesh, or
other facet) data as geometry. GeomSim CAD interfaces have been
extended to now include Pro/ENGINEER, Wildfire, NX, and SolidWorks.
The ability to support access and modification of features and
associated parameters has also been introduced. The interfaces to
ACIS, Granite, and Parasolid have also been updated to support
current releases of these kernels and the use of discrete data as
geometry has been improved to support approximate curvature for
meshing along with improved topology detection.
Other enhancements to the mesh generation technology include
expanded use of reduced mesh data structure for a smaller memory
footprint, enhanced growth rate control, improved extrusion meshing,
improved boundary layer meshing, improved mesh smoothing /
optimization, support of curvature-based refinement for Discrete
models, meshing of Assembly Models / Imprinted Assembly Models, and
many more.
