Patella Manufacturing to Use 24 Seats of Solid Edge

TX, May 19, 2008 - Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens
Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product
lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced Patella
Manufacturing Inc., a leading manufacturer of architectural millwork and
custom office furniture, purchased 24 seats of Solid Edge 3D CAD software
from Siemens PLM Software partner Designfusion, a focused technology
solution provider to the Canadian manufacturing and design community.
Patella selected Solid Edge over competitive solutions from SolidWorks
and Autodesk. Solid Edge is the core CAD component of the Velocity Series,
Siemens PLM Software’s portfolio for the mid-market.
“Solid Edge will reduce both design errors and rework we experienced with
2D AutoCAD and will enhance communication between engineering and
manufacturing,” said Darlo Pack, executive vice president, Patella. “Solid
Edge also proved to be the best option for handling our legacy 2D data.”
Patella also based its investment decision on future needs for integrated
product data management (PDM) Teamcenter Express is the collaborative PDM
product in the Velocity Series.

solutions from our technology provider,” said Pack. “We prefer working with
one source for those multiple technologies and Siemens was the only provider
with that option.”
