Remcom to Use Siemens D-Cubed 2D DCM
PLANO,
Texas, Mar 11, 2009 - Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens
Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle
management (PLM) software and services, and Remcom, Inc. of State College,
Pennsylvania, a market leader in the field of electromagnetic simulation
software, today announced that Remcom has licensed the D-Cubed software
component product 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) and incorporated it
into the latest release of its flagship product, XFdtd Release 7.0 (XF7).
XFdtd provides engineers with design, simulation and analysis tools for
modeling the electromagnetic characteristics and effects of a variety of devices
including antennae, microwave circuits and wireless communication devices. Among
a wide range of enhancements, XF7 has introduced significant improvements in its
CAD modeling capabilities, including a new parametric sketcher that is based on
the D-Cubed 2D DCM.
“The D-Cubed 2D DCM was integrated with XF7 to enable our customers to more
productively create solid models, whether building new parts, or editing
features in imported parts,” said Bradley Flubacher, Senior Software Engineer at
Remcom. “We selected the D-Cubed 2D DCM because it was clearly the most credible
option in the market. The D-Cubed 2D DCM’s status as the industry-standard
sketching engine, coupled with an excellent support service and the stability of
Siemens PLM Software as a component supplier, ensure market-leading value for
Remcom and our customers.”
“As the world’s leading supplier of geometric constraint management
technology and components, our software solutions – such as the D-Cubed 2D DCM
product – are used in most of the leading mechanical CAD, CAM and CAE software
applications available today,” said Joan Hirsch , vice president of Product
Design Solutions, Siemens PLM Software. “Remcom is now among the first
electromagnetic simulation software suppliers to license the D-Cubed 2D DCM
product, and the latest example of the ever broadening appeal of our PLM
Components family of solutions.”

About PLM Components: Parasolid and D-Cubed
PLM Components are software tools that support innovation and promote
interoperability in CAD, CAM, CAE and PLM applications. Siemens PLM Software
develops these components, uses them throughout its own applications and
licenses them to independent software vendors and end-user organizations. PLM
Components include the Parasolid and D-Cubed software products, widely used
technologies that provide 3D part and assembly modeling, editing and
interoperability, 2D/3D parametric sketching, motion simulation, collision
detection, clearance measurement and visualization functionality. Applications
include mechanical CAD, CAM, CAE, mold design, sheet metal, AEC, GIS,
structural, plant and ship design, CMM, reverse engineering and sales
configuration.
