China's Zoomlion Selects Siemens PLM NX, Teamcenter
PLANO,
TX and BEIJING, China, Oct 27, 2009 – Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation
Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM)
software and services, today announced that Changsha Zoomlion Heavy Industry
Science & Technology Development Co. has selected an integrated suite of Siemens
PLM Software. United Force Corporation, Siemens PLM Software’s service provider,
will install, implement and service this comprehensive Teamcenter product
lifecycle management solution bundled with NX CAD/CAE/CAM software, enabling
Zoomlion’s construction machinery to tap the infrastructure expansion market
accelerated by China’s stimulus package.Zoomlion, a machinery manufacturer
based in Changsha, Hunan Province, is a pioneer in China’s construction
machinery industry, and is engaged in researching and manufacturing key
equipment for construction of priority national infrastructure including
building and transport as well as energy production. Zoomlion also has major
operations in Changsha, Changde, Yiyang of Hunan province, Beijing,
Shanghai, and Shanxi Province, and has erected nine industrial parks.
Zoomlion will use Teamcenter to consolidate several existing systems,
providing a single source of product knowledge enabling seamless downstream
management and use of multiple computer-aided design (CAD) systems including
NX software and CAD data. The company plans to use Teamcenter for
visualization and to directly link engineering with manufacturing and
support departments as well as for connections with their customers and
partners. To utilize these powerful solutions more effectively, after
installation by a highly-skilled technical support team from United Force,
Siemens PLM Software will hold technical and management exchanges.
“Zoomlion Concrete Machinery Company and Zoomlion Crane Company are
committed to improving the quality and functionality of our construction
machinery through tapping the most advanced technology to deliver world
class products and service to our customers in China and overseas,” said
Wang Yukun, information department director, Zoomlion Group. “The multi-CAD
management capability of Teamcenter provides a single source of product data
for internal and external use and Zoomlion Zhongbiao uses NX software that
delivers 3D design capabilities that help Zoomlion reduce both operating
costs and product development time.”
Zoomlion’s replacement of legacy systems and consolidation on Teamcenter
as its single PDM platform is an endorsement of Teamcenter as a robust, open
PLM platform,” said Chuck Yuan, senior VP and general manager, Greater
China, Siemens PLM Software. “With more infrastructure projects coming on
stream each month in China Teamcenter together with NX software will provide
Zoomlion with a solution to make the most of this opportunity through
enhanced collaboration and innovation while delivering design anywhere,
build anywhere capabilities.”
Construction machinery is yet one more industry where China is leading
the world in growth and where the country is becoming the largest market in
the world. The 4 trillion yuan (US$586 billion) stimulus package that China
announced last November is heavy on infrastructure spending and is expected
to boost domestic demand for construction machinery this year, potentially
offsetting a slowdown in exports and private-sector investment. Morgan
Stanley expects the industry to achieve 5 percent growth in 2009.
