PLANO,
Texas and MILAN, Italy, Feb 9, 2009 - Siemens PLM Software, a business unit
of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of
product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and Cimatron
Limited of Givat Shmuel, Israel, a leading provider of integrated CAD/CAM
solutions for the tool-making and manufacturing industries, today announced
that Cimatron has renewed its agreement to use three of Siemens PLM
Software’s D-Cubed™ component software products – 2D DCM, 3D DCM and HLM –
inside their CimatronE suite of integrated CAD/CAM solutions. The agreement
has also been extended to include support for the 64-bit PC/Windows
platform.
CimatronE offers mold and die designers applications for modeling,
electrode design and NC tool-path generation. The parametric sketching
foundations of CimatronE’s CAD capability are provided by the 2D DCM. The 3D
DCM is used for parametric part positioning in support of mold and die
assembly modeling, and the HLM is used for fast and accurate generation of
hidden line drawings.
“The D-Cubed components are widely used across the CAD/CAM application
development industry. We have been using them since 1997 and it is clear to
us that they offer an excellent combination of value, functionality and
quality for Cimatron and our customers,” said Danny Haran, President and CEO
of Cimatron. “After a review of our future requirements and options, we are
pleased to have secured long term access to these important technologies and
to extend our use to 64-bit platforms. Factors such as ease of integration
and high quality support services make a valuable contribution to meeting
the needs of our customers in the relevant functional areas.”
“The D-Cubed components have evolved over many years to meet the
demanding requirements of a large and diverse customer base,” said Bruce
Feldt, vice president of Open Tools, Siemens PLM Software. “We put our
software components through an extensive process of market validation and
optimization, resulting in a commercial and technical offering that is
unmatched in the CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM industry. This position is further
reinforced today with Cimatron’s renewed commitment to our solutions.”
