NextComputing Adds Touchscreen to NextDimension Series
NASHUA,
NH, May 1, 2009 - NextComputing, providers of high-performance, portable
computers, announces the addition of touchscreen technology to their entire
line of NextDimension flextop computers.
The convenience and usability of touchscreens is widely known in the consumer
market. It is less commonplace in high tech industries which require more
equipment to perform complex applications. A user would typically need a
high-performance computer and a separate touch-enabled display. NextComputing
has integrated the display into the system itself, making it more of an all in
one appliance, enabling use in places not possible before. The system is
portable, takes up very little space and retains all of the features
NextComputing customers have come to expect, like high-performance quad-core
processors, multiple PCI and PCI Express slots, and massive storage. Resolution
is unaffected by the addition of touchscreen technology, with NextComputing
systems boasting up to 1920x1200 resolution.
Broadcast applications like live web streaming are easier to manage from a
user perspective with a touchscreen. Operators do not need to know much about
the application to make it work, just touch the buttons and the application does
the rest. Open standards architecture and multiple OS support allow most
touchscreen enabled applications to run seamlessly.
Live video telestration for news, sports, and presentations is one example
application. Used for live sports coverage, news broadcasts, weather reports,
traffic updates and more, telestration software provides easy-to-use
illustration tools for instant interaction with on-screen events. With a touch
of a finger, on-air talent can illustrate, highlight, and bring details into
focus. Utilizing telestration on a NextDimension system with an integrated
touchscreen is an excellent, portable illustration solution for broadcast
studios in news and sports, as well as media and press presentations,
conferences, and classroom training.
The touchscreen is available on the NextDimension Pro HD, Evo HD, RVE, XGE,
and the NextDimension Director, and existing NextDimension systems can be
retrofitted.
