Nemetschek NA Confirms Parasolid in Vectorworks 2009
 BALTIMORE,
MD (Nemetschek NA Press Day), Sep 12, 2008 - Nemetschek North America
confirmed today that Vectorworks 2009 will use the Parasolid geometry
kernel.
News of this arrangement had been circulating this week among industry
insiders. Randall Newton first suggested it publicly in
AECnews.com in a
post dated September 8.
Vectorworks 2009 will not be officially released until Monday, September
15, though it is being presented to the press today.
In the upcoming press release, Nemetschek NA calls Parasolid a "robust new engine
that gives users superior 2D and 3D capabilities, at speeds that are up to
4-5 times faster for modeling operations." NNA had used a solid modeling
kernel before (IntegrityWare's Solids ++).
“For years the MCAD industry has been taking advantage of the robustness
that the Parasolid modeling kernel provides, and with Vectorworks 2009
product line, we’ve laid the foundation for bringing that true modeling
robustness to the AEC industry” says Dr Biplab Sarkar, Nemetschek NA CTO.
Nemetschek joins Bentley, whose MicroStation software is popular in the
AEC industry and has used Parasolid for many years. Parasolid enjoys wide
acceptance in MCAD products, notably Solid Edge and NX (owned by Siemens
PLM) and SolidWorks. Parasolid competes with ACIS, by Spatial Technology
(owned by Dassault Systemes).
