MWH Soft COO Paul Boulos Joins AAWRE Board of Trustees
BROOMFIELD,
CO, Sep 17, 2009 - MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and
water resources applications software, today announced that its president
and chief operating officer, Dr. Paul F. Boulos, Hon.D.WRE, has been elected
to the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Water Resources
Engineers (AAWRE) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). His
term will begin October 1, 2009.
A
renowned international authority in water resources engineering, Dr. Boulos
is acclaimed for his practical and scientific expertise and his extensive
experience in both academe and the corporate world. He has co-authored nine
authoritative books and more than 100 technical articles on water and
wastewater engineering.
Dr. Boulos is the recipient of numerous industry honors, including awards
for excellence in scholarship from national and international scientific and
engineering societies and notable accolades from government and research
organizations and NGOs. Among these acknowledgements are technical awards
from the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Water Works
Association and the US Environmental Protection Agency. In 2008, he was
awarded Honorary Diplomate status (Hon.D.WRE) by AAWRE, the Academy’s
highest honor; accepted the Lebanese American Foundation Pride of Heritage
Award; and received Special US Congressional Recognition. This year, he
received one of America’s most prestigious awards, the Ellis Island Medal of
Honor, for his outstanding contributions to our communities, our nation and
the world.
Dr. Boulos serves on the Board of Directors of MWH Soft, MWH Global and
MWH international as well as AMIDEAST (Washington DC) and the Dean’s
International Council of the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the
University of Chicago (Chicago, IL). He chairs the Board of International
Advisors and is an Ex-Officio Trustee of the Lebanese American University in
Beirut. He also served on the External Advisory Board of the Civil and
Environmental Engineering School of the American University of Beirut. He
has been a member of advisory and executive committees for many
organizations, including the US EPA Science Advisory Board and the National
Academy of Sciences/National Research Council.
Dr. Boulos received his Doctorate, Master of Science, and Bachelor of
Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky, and has
attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
The American Academy of Water Resources Engineers was created by the
American Society of Civil Engineers and its Environmental and Water
Resources Institute (EWRI) to improve the practice, elevate the standards,
and advance the profession of water resources engineering. Key AAWRE goals
are to identify and certify engineers with specialized knowledge in water
resources for the benefit of the public; recognize the ethical practice of
water resources engineering at the expert level; enhance the practice of
water resources engineering; support and promote positions on water
resources issues important to the public health, safety and welfare; and
encourage life-long learning and continued professional development.
