MWH Soft Water Modeling Adds Open MP Support
BROOMFIELD,
CO, May 14, 2009 - MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and
water resources applications software, today announced that all products in
its water modeling family now fully support OpenMP (Open Multi-Processing),
enabling engineers to work more efficiently than ever with very large water
distribution models.
Open MP, a multi-platform shared memory parallel programming technology,
takes advantage of multiple core processors to speed up computations a
documented 40+ percent over the previous version. The technology upgrade can
be downloaded from the Product Center section of the MWH Soft website.
The state-of-the-art enhancement reflects MWH Soft’s commitment to
technological advancement and further secures the standing of its Water
Utility Suite as the indispensable engineering complement to infrastructure
design and management software.
The new edition enhances a product that was already among the
highest-performing in the water infrastructure modeling market. It reflects
an intensive R&D effort focused directly on performance, the trait engineers
value most in modeling software. Speedy performance is especially critical
in establishing water quality compliance, a task that requires running very
large dynamic network models for very long simulation times. The
groundbreaking speed increase will help water enterprises make better
management decisions, create better designs, and meet higher quality
standards in a shorter turnaround time.
“Engineers want a great user experience that allows them to focus on the
model they are constructing, calibrating and analyzing, not the software,”
said Tony A. Akel, P.E., President of Akel Engineering Group in Fresno, CA,
and a leading national expert in water systems modeling. “Productivity
enhancements like those in MWH Soft’s OpenMP edition set new standards for
high performance water network modeling and make a significant difference in
the quality and timing of the projects we undertake, as well as our ability
to manage, operate, monitor and secure our drinking water distribution
systems and plan reliable, cost-effective improvements.”
“We are very pleased to give our customers the significant performance
advantages of OpenMP technology,” said J. Erick Heath, P.E., MWH Soft’s Vice
President of Sales and Client Relations. “Professional modelers worldwide
have eagerly awaited this powerful enhancement, and we’re confident they
will experience a dramatic difference in simulating dynamic water quality
conditions in large all-pipe water distribution network models.”
