City of Clearwater to Use MWH Soft InfoWater
BROOMFIELD,
CO, Mar 5, 2009 - MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and
water resources applications software, today announced that the City of
Clearwater, Florida, has chosen MWH Soft’s industry-leading InfoWater
Executive Suite to supplant its existing water network analysis solution and
drive its enterprise-wide geospatial hydraulic modeling and design effort.
The selection is yet another reflection of MWH Soft’s leadership position in
geospatial hydraulic infrastructure management in the North American market.
The decision followed an extensive evaluation of leading GIS-based water
modeling software packages. The assessment included a detailed
feature/functionality list as well as onsite interview and presentation by
software vendor representatives to key decision makers. InfoWater Executive
Suite was selected for its ease of use, brevity of learning curve, seamless
GIS-integration, powerful geospatial modeling and design functionality,
graphical presentation and optimization capabilities, quality technical support,
and price/performance. The selection equips Clearwater with a full range of
high-performance ArcGIS-centric (ESRI, Redlands, CA) water infrastructure
analysis, design and management capabilities that will enable it to optimize
capital planning, operations and community relations.
The City of Clearwater in Pinellas County, Florida, nearly due west of Tampa
and northwest of St. Petersburg, is home to more than 108,000 people. Its water
distribution system comprises 588 miles of water mains, 25 miles of reclaimed
water mains. 4,036 fire hydrants, and 8,329 valves. This entire infrastructure
is captured in a geodatabase in ESRI’s ArcGIS 9 platform. The City will use the
ArcGIS-centric InfoWater solution to build and calibrate an extended period
dynamic simulation model directly from that geodatabase. The model will be used
to analyze existing and future hydraulic and water quality conditions, improve
system operations, and optimize the City’s capital improvement program.
“The City’s evaluation team was very impressed with InfoWater’s power and
simplicity. Our engineers, GIS professionals and Operations personnel are eager
to assimilate the historic data related to our critical infrastructure and
modeling information to obtain greater business benefits,” said Robert Fahey,
P.E., Utilities Engineering Manager for the City of Clearwater. “Of particular
interest to us were the software’s ease of use, seamless ArcGIS integration,
versatility, and speed. We were also seeking functionality that could ultimately
be used from both a design and theoretical analysis environment while
simultaneously functioning as a real-time evaluation and monitoring tool for our
Operations staff. With the advent of SCADA technologies and the leaps and bounds
that have been made in technology, InfoWater seems to have the best handle on
meeting the varied needs of the multiple functioning groups tasked with
planning, operating and maintaining a public water system. The Company’s
technical staff and outstanding customer service are responsive to our queries
and respond clearly with an in-depth knowledge of the waterworks industry.”
“The City of Clearwater understands that the first step toward developing a
reliable, comprehensive geospatial water master plan is equipping their
engineers and GIS professionals with the very best tools,” said Paul F. Boulos,
Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. “With uncommon objectivity, they laid out
their requirements, tested the choices, evaluated results, and made a sound
decision. We are thrilled that they have chosen MWH Soft as their solution
partner, and we’re committed to proving them right every day.”
