MWH Reveals Program for 2010 Asia Pacific Water, Sewer Conference

BROOMFIELD, CO, Feb 11, 2010 - MWH Soft, a leading global innovator of wet infrastructure modeling and simulation software and technologies, today released the technical program for the third annual Asia Pacific Water and Sewer Systems Modeling Conference. The event, organized by MWH Soft, is widely considered to be the most comprehensive and significant infrastructure modeling, design and management technology conference of its kind. It will be presented April 21-22, 2010, at Q1, the world’s tallest residential tower, on Australia’s Gold Coast.

This once-a-year learning opportunity for the Asia Pacific expert modeling community will feature unique technical presentations showcasing projects from throughout the region, along with keynote addresses from industry leaders. This year’s conference is sponsored by AsiaWater 2010, Singapore International Water Week, Gold Coast Water, Watercare Services Limited, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Southern Water, Central Highlands Water, GWMWater, Tweed Shire Council, Byron Shire Council and Gladstone Regional Council.

The Asia Pacific conference attracts a gathering of water and wastewater experts and their managers who want to sharpen their skills, expand their knowledge, and share best practices with their peers. The theme of this year’s conference is, “Maximize efficiency, reduce costs and minimize environmental impact through technology.” The ultimate goal of the event is to empower attendees to design, operate and manage better and more cost-effective systems, protect the environment, and safeguard public health.

The interactive forum will provide useful industry insights and an opportunity to exchange cutting-edge information, proven strategies, cost-effective solutions and best practices with water and wastewater industry movers and shakers. It will also allow water and wastewater professionals to explore new ways of using engineering GIS technology as well as advanced hydraulic modeling, asset management and information management applications. Participants will learn how they can leverage these tools to do their jobs better, easier, faster and more efficiently; maximize their return on software investments; and make their organizations more globally competitive. They will also earn valuable Continued Professional Development (CPD) hours.

The two days of content-rich gatherings, will offer invaluable insights on gaining a competitive edge in this difficult economy. Main stage keynote speakers will include Dr. Paul F. Boulos, President and COO, MWH Soft, USA; Dato' Ir Ahmad Husaini Sulaiman, Director General, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Malaysia; Stewart Sargent, Services Development Engineer, Marlborough District Council, New Zealand; and Guillermo Capati, Infrastructure Planning Manager, Gold Coast Water, Australia. Keynote presenters will include Dr. Helen Edmonds, Principal Planner - Water, Watercare Services Limited, New Zealand; James Moffatt, Systems Modeling Manager, Linkwater, Australia; and Simon Pearce Higgins, Manager Network Strategy and Investigations, Melbourne Water, Australia.

Other highlights will include a look at twenty-nine state-of-the-art, real-world situations, personally presented by experts from utilities and engineering consulting firms. Through them, participants will learn about sustainable management of water and wastewater networks; sophisticated water quality modeling; water hammer, unidirectional flushing and desalination modeling; integrated urban drainage planning; nutrient and H2S modeling in sewers; advanced river and flood modeling; protecting investments through improved asset management; how to design more efficient pressure sewer systems; and effective management of sewer collection systems. The agenda also includes business implementation and management issues, technology updates, industry solutions presentations, and social and networking events.

“This fun and educational event gives our users a wonderful forum for exploring the state of the art in water and wastewater infrastructure engineering and management and sharing best practices for solving everyday challenges and problems,” said Boulos. “Attendees can carry this valuable learning experience back to their organizations, opening new avenues for increasing productivity and performance, enhancing project quality, maximizing return on their software investments, gaining a competitive edge on the future, advancing their careers, and improving the quality of life in their communities.”
