NEW YORK, NY and PHILADELPHIA, PA, Oct 5, 2009 - Microsol Resources is pleased to announce the second track in our online BIM Master Series: BIM for CM’s: The 5 D’s - From Revit to Autodesk Quantity Takeoff. Our online Master Series is the newest addition to our portfolio of CAD & BIM Training Services - Web-Based Training. This service is designed to provide our clients with even greater flexibility and customization for their training needs. These on-line classes, delivered via a live, two-way interactive format allow our in-house architects and engineers to bring world-class training on cutting edge CAD & BIM software right to your desktop.

In three classes we’ll take you through the complete BIM process for Construction Managers.

We’ll lead off with the transition from 2D to 3D. In this class we’ll teach you easy techniques that will allow you to turn any 2D documents (e.g. PDF’s, JPEGS, DWG, etc.) into basic 3D massing models in Revit that you can then use to generate simple quantity counts, or visualize constructability studies.

In our 2nd class we’ll focus on 3D & 4D collaboration where we’ll teach you best practices for the Revit to Navisworks workflow. You’ll learn the basics of building selection sets, running clash detections and ways to tie your BIM back to your scheduling software (Primavera, Microsoft Office, or Excel).

In the 3rd and final class we’ll explore the 5th Dimension – quantity takeoff and estimating. Using Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010 we’ll teach you how to combine both 2D documents and your Revit BIM for quantity takeoff and estimating. We explain best practices and techniques for creating takeoffs from any 2D document or BIM model in one centralized database.
