100+ Principals Attend Microsol Resources BIM Legal Event
NEW YORK, NY,
Aug 6, 2009 - Microsol Resources, a recognized leader in BIM technology
solutions, as well as a leading Autodesk value added reseller serving the
building and civil engineering industries and an Autodesk Premier Solutions
Provider (PSP) hosted another installment in their executive breakfast
series, titled “New BIM Contracts: A Legal Perspective.” Held July 16th,
2009 at the Harvard Club in New York City, the event drew owners, partners
and principals from the Northeast’s leading AEC firms eager to learn more
about the latest developments in construction law in a BIM-enabled world.
“Asking owners, partners and principals to spend the better part of their
morning with us is a tall order – in any economy - but judging from the +100
attendees, it’s obvious that getting solid answers to questions surrounding
the legal implications of BIM are of a high strategic value to our clients,”
said Jason Dougherty, Director of BIM Implementation for Microsol Resources.
“Our keynote speaker, nationally recognized construction attorney Rick Lowe,
did a masterful job of covering an extremely broad topic; from clarifying
distinctions between IPD, Design-Build and new BIM contract documents such
as the AIA E202 and ConsensusDOCS BIM Addendum, right down to basic
procedural questions concerning ownership, risk and reward on a BIM-enabled
project. The truest test for a session like this is always ‘audience
engagement.’ Suffice it to say we ended the morning with an extremely lively
Q/A session and a room full of AEC leaders willing to stick around to have
their thoughts heard and questions answered.”
The event featured keynote speaker, attorney Richard Lowe, Partner at
Duane Morris, LLP. With over 25 year’s experience, Mr. Lowe is recognized as
a pioneer in BIM and construction law. In addition to having served as the
co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Construction Litigation
Committee, Rick also served as the Chair of the Association of General
Contractor’s BIMForum Legal Subcommittee where he led the effort to create
the ConsensusDOCS BIM Addendum, the first contract document in the world to
specifically address the use of BIM.
