INUS to Launch InspectWorks for SolidWorks at Control Show
SEOUL,
South Korea, Apr 18, 2008 - INUS Technology, Inc., the developer of
Rapidform 3D scanning software, will debut
InspectWorks at
Control 2008 (April
22nd to 25th) in Stuttgart, Germany. InspectWorks is the first SolidWorks
add-in for quick, dimensional inspection from 3D scan data.
InspectWorks is for designers and engineers with a product to inspect and
a schedule to keep. It solves a problem for the SolidWorks designer who
needs fast initial confirmation that the part in front of him is compliant
with the dimensions in the CAD model.
No extensive training is required; Users will feel right at home with the
Solidworks look and feel, and the wizard-style interface makes it simple to
perform CAD-to-3D scan comparisons. In minutes, the user receives visual
feedback via a deviation color map to know if a part is within or out of
tolerance. In addition, InspectWorks produces section deviation analysis and
automatic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) results for each
part. Results are listed in tabular format that can be combined with color
map images of each part and callouts in an inspection report.
Calvin J. Hur, senior vice president of marketing & global sales for
INUS, stated, "We are addressing a new market with the release of
InspectWorks. The add-in builds on Rapidform's market-leading 3D scanning
technology; yet, this is a new, exciting challenge for us."
"Our Intent is to arm the designer and manufacturing engineer with quick
access to part quality information so that the product development cycle
continues unimpeded. InspectWorks will allow early detection of defects that
will prevent further investment of time and money in a flawed part. I
believe that the process innovation created by InspectWorks can effectively
minimize the number of design iterations, which will drastically reduce time
and cost," Hur concluded.
Key features of InspectWorks include:
- Completely integrated application within SolidWorks
- Easy-to-use wizard style user interface
- One button alignment of scan data to CAD via best-fit or GD&T datums
- CAD-to-part deviation mapping - Section deviation analysis - Color
Map Deviation Analysis
- Automatic DimXpert GD&T calculation - Go/no-go visual reporting
- Easy inspection reports in Excel format
- Built on Rapidform technology, with proven accuracy tested by the
PTB, NIST and NPL as well as thousands of customers around the world
Hur stated, "INUS is eager to help PLM and CAD users discover the value
of 3D scanning applications throughout their product design and
manufacturing. We have known for some time that giving the design engineer
the tools to inspect their part against the CAD model is very attractive.
Our users want full functionality within SolidWorks' integrated environment.
In fact, it was Solidworks' own innovation - easy application of GD&T
through DimXpert - that makes InspectWorks so powerful. InspectWorks
capitalizes on that innovation, and becomes the latest Rapidform product to
enable manufacturers to reap the benefits of 3D scanning technology."
InspectWorks is compatible with all 3D Scanners. The SolidWorks Solutions
level add-in, which will begin shipping on April 21, 2008, is supported in
both SolidWorks 2007 and 2008. Visitors to Control 2008(www.control-messe.com)
