MAN Commercial Vehicles to Use RAMSIS for Cabin Design
KAISERSLAUTERN,
Munich, Germany, Mar 18, 2009 - The MAN Commercial Vehicles Group (MAN
Nutzfahrzeuge Gruppe) with registered offices in Munich, Germany, will use
RAMSIS Industrial Vehicles for the design of its drivers' cabins. Drivers'
workplaces in buses and trucks see intensive use - and the amount of stress
the driver experiences depends on the ergonomic design of his cab. More
comfort and a high degree of safety reduce fatigue and absences caused by
illness, ensuring an increase in driver efficiency. RAMSIS fully meets the
specific requirements involved in vehicle driver cab design. The use of
RAMSIS increases the level of ergonomic competence in the product
development process - meaning that results can be determined fast, reliably
and objectively.
RAMSIS Industrial Vehicles is a CAD manikin for the ergonomic design of
vehicles in the strategy and conception phase. The operability of the vehicle
controls and the feasibility of carrying out maintenance and repair work can
already be verified on the digital model. This guarantees that the comfort and
safety of the driver is assured, even before the final model freeze takes place.
“Ergonomic design today is an absolute must in vehicle development. Vehicles
have to offer the highest degree of comfort - and be designed to optimally match
the different physiological attributes of drivers and other vehicle occupants.
That's why ergonomics is an integral part of our company philosophy”, said
Holger Koos, Head of the Design Department for Trucks, commenting on the use of
RAMSIS software at MAN Commercial Vehicles.
