Gerber Releases WebPDM v5.3
TOLLAND, CT, Sep
30, 2008 - Gerber Technology, a business unit of Gerber Scientific,
Inc. (NYSE: GRB), and the world leader in automated CAD/CAM and PLM
solutions for the apparel and flexible materials industry, announces
the release of WebPDM Version 5.3.
Updates to the industry’s benchmark software for product data
management includes several usability enhancements to provide
easier, faster and more powerful searching, navigation, data entry
and reporting. These new enhancements will be highlighted at Gerber
Technology’s
Software Users Conference in October.
A key component of WebPDM’s update is its richer integration with
AccuMark, Gerber’s flagship CAD software for pattern design, grading
and marker making. “Tight integration between CAD and PDM/PLM
software is such an important factor in facilitating Product
Lifecycle Management,” said Bill Brewster, Gerber Technology’s vice
president of global marketing and product management. “As we focus
on continuous improvements to enable our customers to maintain their
competitive edge, WebPDM’s interface with AccuMark and our entire
PLM suite is something we’re really proud of. That, combined with
other enhancements, makes this new release a valuable tool where
common information, “one version of the truth,” across supply chain
partners is a must to remain competitive,” he added.
This latest release also features several enhancements for
improved efficiency and ease-of-use. These include drag-and-drop to
reorder, additional report formatting capabilities and image
plug-ins to automatically launch Adobe Illustrator. “We’ve received
really great feedback from WebPDM V5.3’s lead users regarding the
new capabilities,” said Elizabeth King, Gerber Technology’s director
of software applications. “Users continue to comment on the
valuable, time-saving ability to search the BOM data table from any
level in the hierarchy,” she added.
In addition to these updates, WebPDM V5.3 will be discussed in
eleven different sessions throughout Gerber’s upcoming
Software Users Conference, acting as a platform to illustrate
the overall usability and capabilities of the software. Session
topics include multiple case studies as well as informative “How To”
and “What’s New” classes.
