Geometric Sets Up Metrology Centre of Excellence for Metris
MUMBAI,
India, Oct 21, 2008 - Geometric Ltd (BSE: 532312, NSE: GEOMETRIC), a leader
in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions and technologies, and
engineering services, today announced the establishment of a Metrology
Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Metris, a worldwide metrology leader
headquartered in Leuven, Belgium.
The setting up of the Metrology CoE is in line with the company's
strategy of diversifying its engineering software development customer base,
from software vendors to industrial parties who bundle cutting-edge
metrology software as part of their products.
Geometric has created infrastructure for housing coordinate measuring
machines (CMM), 3D scanners, robotic measuring arms and other premium
metrology solutions in its Pune facility. The Company will provide services
to Metris for developing and testing software that directly interfaces with
its hardware systems. The infrastructure in the CoE will allow for complete
closed-loop testing of software products on Metris' hardware as well as
end-to-end support and services to their customers.
Bart Van Coppenolle, CEO, Metris said, "Over the last four years,
Geometric has become a very strong partner for software development. The
creation of the Metrology CoE is a valuable offering for Metris and its
customers, and is a step towards reinforcing our strategic relationship to
provide services and support to our customers."
Dr. Ravi Gopinath, Managing Director and CEO of Geometric Ltd. said,
"This is a significant milestone in our partnership with Metris, and our
evolution as a provider of software solutions for engineering and
manufacturing applications. Our ability to test software applications on
Metris hardware at the Metrology CoE will significantly shorten the software
development lifecycle. Geometric is now uniquely positioned as a services
provider for complete metrology systems in the Metris ecosystem, and the
establishment of the CoE provides a strong platform for growing this
business."
Geometric has been working with Metris since January 2004. The company
provides software engineering services for several software product lines in
the Metris portfolio, and has developed key software enhancements that
support strategic product differentiation.
