Geomagic Studio v11 Combines Design, Reverse Engineering
3 Geomagic Studio apps for price of 1
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC,
Nov 17, 2009 - Geomagic has combined its three Geomagic Studio offerings
into a single package that includes both design-intent and organic shape
modeling solutions. The new package is available immediately at the same
price as the former Geomagic Studio Shape Edition.
“Since
we introduced design-intent modeling two years ago, we have continued to
expand our offerings that give customers the ability to create optimized,
parametric CAD models from 3D scan data,” says Tom Kurke, Geomagic’s chief
operating officer. “Based on positive customer feedback and the increased
demand for reverse engineering and product design originating from 3D scans,
we decided to make design-intent modeling available in Geomagic Studio at no
extra cost.”
Different modelers for different needs
Design-intent modeling within Geomagic Studio enables objects to be
modeled as they were originally designed, with a combination of primitive
shapes, swept features and freeform surfaces. This allows users to capture
physical parts and model them without showing manufacturing defects or the
wear-and-tear that results from use over time. Design-intent modeling
greatly reduces the time required to transform physical objects into
editable CAD models for applications such as product design and reverse
engineering.
The more organic shape modeling in Geomagic Studio creates water-tight
NURBS surfaces for medical, scientific and reverse-engineering applications,
where users want to create exact 3D replicas of an existing object. This
type of modeling is important in conducting accurate engineering analysis of
an as-built part, which almost always differs from the CAD model. It
is also the preferred tool for modeling organic objects as they exist in the
real world, including human anatomy and historical artifacts.
Freedom of choice
The two modelers in Geomagic Studio are the perfect combination for
Charles Evans, design analyst for Florida Turbine Technologies Inc.
“Geomagic Studio gives us the freedom to choose the modeling method
that’s most effective for a specific job,” says Evans. “Design-intent
modeling coupled with Parametric Exchange for Pro/ENGINEER gets us from
scanning to CAD models quicker and more accurately than any other modeling
software. When we need to produce an exact geometric model of a complex
physical object, the shape modeler is the ideal tool for the job.”
Seamless integration with CAD
Geomagic Studio is the only 3D modeling software to offer seamless
integration with four major CAD packages. Geomagic’s Parametric Exchange
feature enables users to quickly and easily create optimized, parametric CAD
models, complete with model trees that are editable within popular CAD
software. Geomagic Studio supports SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and
Pro/ENGINEER out of the box. A pre-release version of Parametric Exchange
for NX is available for download on the Geomagic Labs website at
http://labs.geomagic.com/.
Availability
Geomagic Studio with design-intent and organic shape modeling and
parametric exchange is available immediately. The comprehensive solution
ships with both 32- and 64-bit editions on the CD, and supports English,
German, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese. Visit
