UK's Thales Selects Flomerics EFD.Pro for Pro/E
MARLBOROUGH,
MA, Mar 18, 2008 - Thales missile electronics facility in Basingstoke
has chosen Flomerics’ EFD.Pro, the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire-embedded
engineering fluid dynamics software. EFD.Pro will be used to analyze complex
defense electronics cooling problems at the front end of the design process.

Thales uses EFD.Pro thermal analysis to ensure
performance of Battlefield Identification (BTID) Transponder Demonstrator
hardware in extreme high temperature environments.
“As an engineer, I am concerned about solving problems in the shortest
possible timeframe. Flomerics technology helps us in achieving this,” said
Mark Pashley, principal mechanical engineer. “We created a short list after
an initial investigation of available tools. Upon completing a series of
benchmarking exercises, EFD.Pro’s ease of use, speed and accuracy led to its
selection over and above the candidates benchmarked. In addition to the
technology, I think it is also important to mention the support services,
which in the eight years I have been using Flomerics software has always
been excellent -- both in terms of speed and quality of response.” “We are
very proud of the quality of our support services and I am very pleased to
hear that Thales enjoys working with our team,” added Gary Carter, Flomerics
CEO.
“As a matter of fact, 98% of our customers in the electronics industry
recommend our software and services to others.” Missile electronics
activities form part of the Air Systems Division within Thales. Thales UK is
a major electronics and systems group serving defense, aerospace, security
and services markets. Thales employs 9,000 staff in the UK, based at more
than 50 locations. In 2006, Thales UK’s revenues were over £1bn (about 2
billion U.S. dollars).
