UK's Excitech Forms Consulting Division
ENFIELD,
UK, Sep 23, 2009 - Leading UK computer aided design solutions and services
company, Excitech, has set up a new division focused exclusively on the
provision of consultancy services relating to design for the construction
industry and its clients. This follows research carried out by Excitech
which highlighted the numbers of organisations failing to address the needs
for improving quality and reducing risk despite the availability and even
use of the latest in design technologies.
According to Excitech Managing Director, Adrian Atkinson, “the industry
is being attracted to the benefits of new design technologies but
introducing these with only basic training programs and no support for
reviewing and implementing appropriate design processes nor for how these
technologies can best be applied to real projects. As a result, the
significant potential returns on these investments are not being widely
seen.”
For many years Excitech has provided consultancy to its customers as part
of its portfolio of solutions. It has been at the forefront of developing
and understanding the best techniques (such as Building Information
Modelling) not just in technologies but also processes and their
implementation. The recognition of this expertise within Excitech has lead
to its involvement in many landmark projects.
Now, with the creation of Excitech Consulting, it is responding to the
industry’s increasing desire for improvement which is driven by a
realization that processes can and must be improved. This growing trend seen
by Excitech was also confirmed and quantified by Excitech’s recent survey
which showed that 60% of respondents were currently exploring or preparing
to introduce new processes, workflows or technologies in the areas of design
– often due to client or partner demands in order to participate in a
project.
The new division, founded upon Excitech’s current skills, expertise and
experience will provide more dedicated resource to develop and deliver to
customers significant improvements in areas such as design data management
and analysis, coordination and collaboration, standards and processes plus
quality and risk reduction.
Commenting on the new division, Adrian Atkinson says “using our industry
expertise and experience from past projects and across all design
disciplines, we are able to work with clients, construction companies and
design organisations to help them get the best from their investments in
design technology and so improve productivity and quality while reducing
risk".
The new division will base the services provided to customers on a
structure and methodology which has been refined through diverse projects
for numerous clients where, though the needs are different, similar
strategies for development have been seen to deliver tangible results.
