EOS to Present EOSINT P Laser Sintering
Systems at EuroMold
With P3 and P7 series systems, EOS also shows Integrated Process Chain
Management for EOSINT M
FRANKFURT,
Germany, Dec 3, 2009 - EOS, world leading manufacturer of laser sintering systems, will be at
EuroMold
this year (2 - 5 December 2009) in the new hall 11. EOS will be presenting two
new systems of the P3 and P7 series. The wide acceptance of Direct Metal
Laser-Sintering (DMLS) as a series production process will be reinforced by the
introduction of new products for powder handling and preparation under the name
of Integrated Process Chain Management (IPCM).
New plastic systems: EOSINT P 395 and EOSINT P
760
At EuroMold EOS will be presenting two advanced plastic laser-sintering
systems: EOSINT P 395 and EOSINT P 760. Comprehensive analyses of the
effects of all relevant parameters in the e-Manufacturing process chain have
also led to the development of specially adapted materials, software
products and peripheral equipment. Dr. Hans Langer, Founder and CEO of EOS:
“The quality of the manufactured, fully functional plastic parts, as well as
the systems’ productivity, high degree of automation, professional materials
management and ergonomic peripheral devices make these systems an ideal
production tool for the economic batch-series manufacture of parts in all
phases of the product life cycle. As such they are ideal for use in an
industrial environment.”
New hard- and software solutions as a basis for
the introduction of Part Property Profiles (PPP)
The modular nature of both systems allows for a high degree of
flexibility as regards to possible functionalities and budget commitment.
Individual modules can be excluded at first, thus reducing the initial
investment, but can be added at any future time. Both systems also offer the
option for upgrading with substantially improved process modules to support
the strategy of Part Property Management. A completely re-engineered laser
optics module (surface module) improves the quality of vertical surfaces
into regions which until now have been exclusive to FORMIGA parts.
The EOSINT P 760 can now be optionally equipped with
OnlineLaserPowerControl (OLPC) which monitors and controls the laser’s power
during the building process, consequently ensuring a more constant power
than was previously possible. FlashRecoating is also available for the
EOSINT P 760; it is a new x-axis control which increases productivity when
using the "TopSpeed" and "Speed" parameter sets by accelerating the
recoating speed up to 400 mm/s. With the appropriate packing density,
build-up rates of up to 700 cm³/h are realistically achievable.
The recoating unit in the EOSINT P395 has also been further improved. The
introduction of PPPs has led to the integration into the EOSINT P 395 of
EOS's highly successful blade cartridge concept that was introduced in 2007
in the EOSINT P 730, making it simple to carry out adjustments and change
the layer thickness. A new version of the EOSTATE software, which monitors
and reports on laser-sintering production, will also be presented at
EuroMold. The new EOSTATE 1.2 with its new array of report and analysis
options is EOS's answer to the increase in demand for transparency and
continuous quality assurance in series production processes. As such the
software complements the PPPs perfectly and is available for all plastic and
metal systems.
Integrated Process Chain Management (IPCM) now
also for EOSINT M
The standardized reuse of powder materials is a prerequisite for
sustaining continuously high quality in ongoing production. In order to
fulfill this, EOS has adapted the successful concepts of other product lines
to develop an integrated process chain management (IPCM) for EOSINT M
systems. The most important step here in quality assurance is the fast
sieving of powder under defined conditions before its reuse. The IPCM
ensures vibratory sieving under defined conditions and mesh sizes adapted
and optimized for individual powders. Powder preparation outside the
machine, for example via powder homogenization, enables the highest
quality as well as maximum productivity and flexibility. Further increases
in productivity and user friendliness can be achieved with EOS's
IPCM-modules for fast powder conveying and machine refilling. The
IPCM-product range includes multipurpose lifting trolleys for
transporting powder containers, building platforms and clamping systems, as
well as for other uses.
About EOS
EOS was founded in 1989 and is today the world-leading manufacturer of
laser-sintering systems. Laser-sintering is the key technology for
e-Manufacturing, the fast, flexible and cost-effective production of
products, patterns and tools. The technology manufactures parts for every
phase of the product life cycle, directly from electronic data.
Laser-sintering accelerates product development and optimizes production
processes. EOS completed its business year 2008/2009 with revenues of
approximately 60 million Euros. The company employs 300 people worldwide,
250 of them in Krailling near Munich, Germany. For more information, please
