Bay State Gas Company Picks Envista for Infrastructure

BEVERLY, MA, Mar 11, 2009 - Envista Corporation, the exclusive provider of web-based software for infrastructure project coordination, announced today that Bay State Gas Company (Westborough, MA) will use Envista’s software to coordinate construction and maintenance projects with municipalities. Bay State Gas, a subsidiary of NiSource Inc., serves nearly 300,000 customers in Massachusetts. Envista software enables utilities and government agencies to share and coordinate construction and maintenance project schedules. Effective coordination of infrastructure projects with others working in the Right of Way, helps prevent third-party damage to pipes, reduces unnecessary street cuts, and lessens disruption for area residents and commuters.

According to Keith Dalton, Manager, Field Engineering, "Bay State maintains thousands of miles of natural gas pipelines, and over the last several years has become more aggressive in replacement of mains and services. The Envista technology is a natural fit for our replacement infrastructure plans by providing a vehicle for better coordination between our municipalities, Mass Highway and Bay State Gas. In 2009 we are initiating our infrastructure coordination with Envista in Massachusetts. We are looking forward to trying a new approach with a high level of collaboration with municipalities, with the least amount of impact on the local community."

“Working with Bay State Gas is an important milestone for us. It is one of the largest and oldest companies in the business, and has long served our communities here in New England. We are confident our technology will empower a new level of productivity, and facilitate demanding maintenance goals set by the utility," states Envista CEO Rick Fiery. "For the first time, Bay State Gas and other infrastructure stakeholders will have access to real-time scheduling information resulting in better coordination and greater operational savings, with less disruption to the Public."
