CAD Manager Forum Added to Kansas MicroStation User Meeting
KANSAS
CITY, MO, Apr 30, 2009 – EatyourCAD is proud to announce the first US CAD
Managers Forum event ever in the United States! EatyourCAD will be traveling
over to Kansas for the
Mid-continent MicroStation Community conference and taking the opportunity
to host a CAD Managers Forum where our American friends can share their
experiences and knowledge and learn from each other in the proven CAD Managers
Forum format.
NOTE: This is not a day of presentations, the Forums are discussion-based and
actively encourage attendees' participation.
The agenda is focused on the changing role of the CAD Manager and includes
the following sessions of open discussion and learning:
BIM and the CAD Manager
The focus of this session is to identify how BIM is impacting the role of the
CAD Manager. Interactive discussion and viewpoints will provide a deeper
understanding of what BIM means to you.
- How does BIM affect me?
- What do I need to implement BIM?
- Which software is the best to use?
- Is there a suitable BIM standard which we can use?
Training
Training can be a large expense. How to make the most of what is available
and improve working methods? This session aims to identify how to gain the
maximum benefit from software and the benefits of continual professional
development.
- Should your company be investing more money and time into training?
- How widely used is benchmarking, and how effectively?
- How effective is in-house training compared to external?
- What’s the difference between training and best practice?
The management side of CAD 1: Business strategy
Looking at how CAD Management should support the company’s business aims and
how to plan technology strategy.
- How do the company’s aims tie in with the CAD team?
- What are my short-, medium- and long-term aims?
The management side of CAD 2: Measuring success
Demonstrating success can be very difficult, but it is essential to the
long-term success of the CAD Manager’s role. This session discusses ways to
monitor performance.
- How do I demonstrate that I have made a difference?
- What performance criteria should I be measuring?
- What is a KPI, and what does it mean to me?
The management side of CAD 3: Managing time
Organize yourself and prioritizing work can make the difference between
effective management and disorganized chaos. Share and learn tips & tricks for
managing workload.
- What do I spend most of my time on?
- What effective methods are there for prioritizing my workload?
- How do I get the most out of my day?
