CSC Releases Tedds v14 for Structural Calculations
LEEDS,
UK, Feb 1, 2012 -
Leading structural software developer, CSC, is delighted to release v14 of its
US structural calculation software, Tedds. This latest version includes updates
to ASCE7-10, along with powerful new features for many new areas of engineering,
including anchor bolt and masonry design. Structural engineers will also benefit
from new functionality for writing and sharing their own custom calculations. The new release enables engineers to perform anchor bolt design to ACI318
and automates the detailed requirements of Appendix D. Engineers will also
benefit from an enhanced masonry section for reinforced CMU and masonry
design to ACI 530-06/08, plus a new masonry lintel calculation to ACI
3005. Designs for out-of-plane bending and in-plane shear are now easier
than ever, and engineers can customize properties such as block size, wall
thickness, reinforcing, and grout strength. Engineers can even cater for
both allowable stress and strength design.
“CSC’s aim is to help engineers become more efficient in producing their
everyday structural calculations through innovative software, timely
updates, training and service”, comments Stuart Broome, Vice President at
CSC. “The major updates within Tedds v14 reinforce our commitment to the US
market.”
Developed in accordance with ASCE 7-10, ASCE 7-05 and ASCE 7-02, Tedds
now calculates wind loads for MWFRS (including the new directional and
envelope methods), as well as components and cladding. Tedds also calculates
balanced and unbalanced snow loading for many different roof types, and
includes an option for drift loading. The functionality also enables
engineers to calculate seismic loads, using the equivalent lateral force
procedure.
Tedds now includes unique and powerful functionality for structural
engineers to write, plan, store and distribute their own high quality and
professional looking calculations, similar to those within the current US
Tedds library. This reduces the risk of errors often associated with using
the more traditional methods, such as spreadsheets or hand calculations, and
provides a more efficient method of creating calculations.
Custom calculations produce output that look like hand calculations, so
the calculations are transparent and easy to check, and they can be stored
within the Tedds library, so organizations can easily capture and share
knowledge internally, adding significant value to Tedds users above and
beyond the calculation library.
Tedds version 14 is currently being shipped and all supported users will
automatically receive this as part of their maintenance contract. For more
