Concepts NREC's CEO David Japikse to Present at SAE 2009
WHITE
RIVER JUNCTION, VT, Mar 31, 2009 – Concepts NREC, a world leader in
turbomachinery design, research, engineering and manufacturing, today
announced that its chairman of the board/CEO, David Japikse, Ph.D., will
present on “Turbomachinery Performance Modeling” as part of this year’s
SAE International 2009 World Congress
on April 20 at Cobo Center in Detroit, Mich. The theme for this year’s event
is Racing to Green Mobility. Japikse, whose company is leading the way in
green turbomachinery design, will make his presentation as part of a
ceremony in his honor where he will receive the 2008 SAE Cliff Garrett
Turbomachinery and Applications Engineering Award.
Established
in 1984, the Cliff Garrett Turbomachinery and Applications Engineering Award is
viewed by SAE International as one of the highest recognitions accorded to
engineers for their achievements in turbomachinery or aerospace engineering. SAE
International invited Japikse to provide his “Turbomachinery Performance
Modeling” lecture and a written paper as a 90-minute presentation.
“I am honored and pleased to accept this prestigious engineering award,” says
Japikse. “I believe that SAE World Congress attendees interested in making their
turbomachinery design more efficient will benefit from my presentation.”
“Turbomachinery is essential for life as we know it today: for clean water,
sanitation, transportation, petrochemicals…the count is endless,” Japikse added.
The SAE Cliff Garrett Turbomachinery and Applications Engineering Award
promotes engineering developments and the presentation of SAE technical papers
on turbomachinery engineering. The award honors Cliff Garrett and the
inspiration he provided to engineers by his example, support, encouragement and
many contributions as an aerospace pioneer. To perpetuate recognition of
Garrett’s achievements and dedication, SAE administers an annual lecture by a
distinguished authority in the engineering of turbomachinery for on-highway,
off-highway and/or spacecraft and aircraft uses.
Leading the Way in Green Turbomachinery Design
Earlier this year, Japikse delivered three seminars for a short course
entitled, “Turbomachinery Design Strategy for Compressors and Pumps,” at LSTM
Erlangen, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen, Germany.
Passionate about communicating the importance of efficient pumping systems,
Japikse is quoted as saying that “pumping is essential for civilization:
bringing clean water to people and taking away and processing waste must be
done.”
Concepts NREC’s highly educated and experienced engineering designers and
professional business managers are currently working on private industry and
government green energy programs. Some of the programs include: 1) United States
Department of Energy (DOE) projects, 2) hydrogen pipeline transmission
compressors for the safe and efficient delivery of hydrogen gas to fuel cars, 3)
wave energy turbines for generating electricity from ocean wave motion, 4)
hydrokinetic turbines to recover energy from river or tidal flows, and 5)
fish-friendly hydroelectric turbines for effective and efficient power
generation.
