Concepts NREC Announces 'Understanding Green Energy' Course
WHITE
RIVER JUNCTION, VT, Feb 25, 2009 – Concepts NREC, a world leader in
turbomachinery design, engineering and manufacturing, with expertise in
green energy systems, today announces the date of its “Understanding Green
Energy” course developed to instruct students, engineers, energy
entrepreneurs, legislators and inventors on the essentials of renewable
energy and their uses across many applications. The three-day seminar will
provide instruction on basic engineering rules for each form of renewable
energy: solar, wind, water, geothermal, tidal and bio-fuel resources, and
enable participants to evaluate the effective and practical uses of these
energy types in residential, commercial and industrial applications. The
Concepts NREC “Understanding Green Energy” course is scheduled to coincide
with Earth Day 2009 and will be held in Wilder, Vt., April 22-24.
“Green energy generation brings unique technical challenges in utilizing
sources that have low specific energy densities and are variable with time,”
says Dan Hinch, Senior Vice President of Concepts NREC. “In this course, we will
demonstrate the complete spectrum of energy conversion machinery and provide the
understanding needed to select appropriate technological solutions for a
diversity of renewable energy sources.”
In acknowledging that often the best ideas for renewable energy generation go
undeveloped due to lack of funding, the Concepts NREC “Understanding Green
Energy” course also will provide participants insights into key sources of
government and private financial funding for green energy projects as well as
instruction on how to access that financial support.
The instructors for the course are experienced engineering designers and
professional business managers who are currently working on private industry and
government green energy programs. Some of the programs include:
1) United States Department of Energy (DOE) projects,
2) hydrogen pipeline transmission compressors for the safe and efficient
delivery of hydrogen gas to fuel cars,
3) wave energy turbines for generating electricity from ocean wave motion,
4) hydrokinetic turbines to recover energy from river or tidal flows, and
5) fish-friendly hydroelectric turbines for effective and efficient power
generation.
