Cadalog Offers Free IFC2SKP Beta for SketchUp 6
TOKYO,
Japan, Jan 24, 2008 - Cadalog, Inc. announced today that it released a free
beta version of the IFC2SKP plug-in for Google SketchUp 6. The IFC2SKP
plug-in works inside SketchUp 6 and will directly import IFC formatted
models into SketchUp. The IFC format is a neutral data and geometry format
for CAD or BIM software programs. It is widely used in 3D Architectural CAD
or BIM programs such as Revit, ArchiCAD, VectorWorks, MicroStation and
Autodesk Architectural.
IFC2SKP will not only import the geometry from an IFC file but it will
also import and display the BIM data of each object. For example,
information about doors, windows, and stairs will also be imported into
SketchUp and displayed when needed.
The IFC2SKP beta plug-in was created by the research department of Secom
(Secom IS Lab) which is involved in the International Alliance for
Interoperability (IAI). IAI specifies the IFC format. Secom is one of the
world’s largest providers of home and building security systems. Secom's IS
Lab has appointed Cadalog, Inc. to distribute the beta version of IFC2SKP to
the SketchUp community.
