buildingSMART Picks Bricsys Vondle for IFD Library Project
MERRIMACK,
NH, Sep 22, 2008 - The IFD Library Group - a division of the buildingSMART
organization - has chosen Bricsys Vondle technology to manage the IFD
Library project.
IFD is the International Framework for Dictionaries, a standard for
ontologies used by buildingSMART technology. The IFD Library project is
derived from internationally-accepted open standards developed by ISO
(International Organization of Standards), most importantly ISO
12006-3:2007.
Along with buildingSMART technology, the IFD Library is one of the core
components of IFC (Industry Foundation Classes ) and IDM/MVD (Information
Delivery Manual and Model View Definition). The library, which was developed
by international teams in the USA and Europe, provides flexibility for IFC-based
building information models (BIM), because it allows links between models
and multiple databases with project and product data.
To manage the huge IFD project, team members use Vondle from Bricsys.
Members of all teams can access the most recent version of all documents
24/7. Vondle takes care of versioning and logging of all user actions.
Vondle's powerful, yet easy-to-use workflow, allows complex processing of
reviews and approvals.
Maarten van Hezik, the managing director of STABU Foundation and one of
the founders of IFD Libraries, comments: "I’m impressed by the ease of use
and performance of Vondle. This technology is the backbone of all
communications among our team members. Via Vondle's access rights matrix,
our administrators have full control on what’s happening on a day-to-day
basis.”
“We are glad to see our technology being used by this innovative group,”
adds Erik De Keyser, CEO at Bricsys. “The IFD Library adds crucial
capabilities to IFC, and we are convinced that this is a major step in
helping BIM make its breakthrough in the design industry.”
