McNeel Offers Free DOSlib for Bricsys Bricscad

SEATTLE, WA and GHENT, Belgium, Sep 9, 2009 - Robert McNeel & Associates, and Bricsys NV together announce that McNeel’s highly successful DOSlib software - formerly only available for AutoCAD - now also can be downloaded and used - free of charge - for the latest version of Bricscad.

Since many years DOSlib is a highly popular software, completing LISP capabilities for AutoCAD. It is a library of AutoLISP-callable functions that provides a variety of Windows operating system capabilities to AutoCAD. Written as an AutoCAD ObjectARX application, DOSlib extends the AutoLISP programming language by providing a multitude of extra functionality. Thanks to Bricsys' BRX code compatible API, DOSlib is now successfully ported to Bricscad V9.3 and will serve the fast growing application portfolio for Bricscad and its users community.

"The availability of DOSlib 8.0 was high ranked on our users' wish list - Erik De Keyser, CEO of Bricsys says. "We are excited that Robert McNeel & Associates made this available to our community. It contributes again to the interoperability between AutoCAD and Bricscad. McNeel deserves our highest estimate for constantly upgrading and providing DOSlib free of charge for all these years now".

Robert McNeel comments: "With growing interest we are following Bricscad for a while now. Porting DOSlib finally to Bricscad was little or no effort. The Bricsys team provided us with regular BRX updates. We just had to recompile our code once and a while and send back the generated reports. Today all required BRX functions are there. From now on we only have to maintain one source code stream for both AutoCAD and Bricscad. As we provide DOSlib for free, this is of course a welcome advantage."
