TM-CAD Retires LT Extender, Bricscad Offers Transition
BERLIN,
Germany, GHENT,
Belgium, Mar 9, 2009 - CEO Torsten Moses of TM-CAD Ingenieurbüro announces
the termination of the LT Extender software product.
For the last seven years, TM-CAD has developed an add-on that allowed
Autodesk's AutoCAD LT to be programmed and to run custom applications. As of
last week, the company decided to stop distribution. This brings to an end a
product that reached a large customer base.
Based on OpenLisp - an open source LISP engine, TM-CAD developed also one of
the best performing AutoLISP-compatible interpreters on the market, which could
be used with the LT Extender product.
Last year, Bricsys licensed OpenLisp together with the LISP interpreter from
TM-CAD, and built it into its Bricscad V8 platform. Bricscad aims to offer the
absolutely best alternative DWG platform with the most complete set of APIs for
end users and professional application developers.
Bricsys Steps In
To fill in the gap left by the end of LT Extender development, all LT
Extender application developers and users are being offered a transition package
to Bricscad V9 and its extensive APIs.
Bricscad V9 provides a smooth transition path for LT Extender users, because
it presents no porting problem for existing applications. In addition, Bricscad
offers a full 3D environment and the powerful new BRX API.
"I see the transition to the Bricscad V9 platform as a step forwards for all
our LT Extender customers", said Mr. Moses. " Bricscad offers them a DWG
platform together with all APIs actually in use by the DWG community".
"As we worked with the Bricsys team in assisting them to integrate our
AutoLISP Interpreter, we became convinced that Bricscad was the right choice,"
he adds. "Our customers can continue their day to day job without giving up
anything. They have a far better overall solution in one product, instead of
two."
"We are very proud to serve the LT Extender community, and we are committed
to offering them perfect continuity," added Bricsys CEO Erik De Keyser. "The
collaboration with TM-CAD Ingenieurbüro has been very professional. Its DWG and
LISP expertise is huge."
The AutoLISP Interpreter together with the other Bricscad APIs enables
application developers in porting their existing DWG applications to the
Bricscad platform, a Bricsys strategy that is embraced by a growing number of
application developers.
