BobCAD-CAM Releases BobWIRE v22 for Wire EDM
CLEARWATER,
FL, Aug 1, 2008 - BobCAD-CAM releases their new 2 & 4 Axis Wire EDM CAD/CAM
software for manufacturing precision parts on Wednesday July 23, 2008. The
new Version 22 BobWIRE system provides an intuitive interface that gives the
operator improved control over managing the program from start to finish. As
a complete solids and surface CAD system with an expanded list of import
file types, the operator can use outside CAD systems or design the part
in-house. The built-in toolpath associativity between the part geometry and
the wire machining features in the CAM tree manager, make on-the-fly
geometry edits or modifying cutting variables simple. Thus, saving the
operator valuable time and increasing efficiency from design to finished
part.

New features include automatic Open and Closed Shape machining, operator
definable cutting conditions for different machines as well as being able to
specifically assign cutting conditions to part files for future use. Other
features include multiple wire approach types, land and taper options for 2
axis part making as well as match point features that gives operators
complete control when programming complex 4 axis parts.
All around, they claim this system has been greatly enhanced and is
easier to cut parts with over their earlier BobCAD-CAM wire systems. “Our
existing Wire customers should immediately see a benefit and for those that
have not previewed the system yet, we feel they will be able to take
advantage of our new technology within a short period of time,” said Chris
Corbell, BobCAD-CAM development director. In addition to standardizing Wire
machining technology in CAD/CAM, the new version also offers hole
programming capabilities that are built-in to the system if a shop has a
separate hole making machine.
“When we sat down to develop this system we wanted to touch all the bases
in wire programming all the way down to option stop and posting whistles and
bells”…Really it comes down to usability for the shop that needs a quality
Wire system,” Corbell continues. For those Wire operators that have Access
Database type technology files, they can import them and save them for
posting as well.
BobCAD-CAM reports the system to be both easy to use and just as robust
as other leading WireEDM CAD/CAM system on the market. The difference is
really the price. They claim that both 2 & 4 Axis CAD/CAM systems can be
rather expensive but the new BobWire CAD/CAM system is priced to be the most
affordable on the market for what the customer receives.
