BOSTON, MA, Mar 3, 2008 - ARCHIBUS, Inc., the #1 developer worldwide of real estate, infrastructure, and facilities management software, announces the latest release of its flagship solution, ARCHIBUS v17. The new release incorporates do-it-yourself (DIY) On Demand Work and Service Desk applications to initiate work/repair and other service requests, new integration capabilities for the ESRI family of Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions and Autodesk Revit Architecture building data, Web Central application enhancements, and many other feature additions.

In addition to this broad set of enhancements, ARCHIBUS v17 provides the option of deploying an entire series of new applications on the Web as well as on the Windows platform.

“The release of v17 offers organizations our richest set of management tools yet for visualization and analysis of real estate and facilities information to reduce cost and improve service,” says ARCHIBUS President and founder Bruce K. Forbes.

“GIS capabilities that link maps with building information, for instance, will be especially important for more efficient management and for making facility placement and design decisions where zoning, proximity to transportation, and other considerations are concerned,” Forbes adds. “And the new On Demand Work and Service Desk capabilities will also mean a broader and more sophisticated array of do-it-yourself service options for users that enhance productivity throughout an organization.”

New v17 Features Empower End Users and Managers

New applications within ARCHIBUS v17 include:

On Demand Work - A Web-based, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) application that automates all on-demand maintenance activities and processes for an organization, from maintenance requests and approvals, to scheduling and work order issuance, to completion.

Service Desk - The ARCHIBUS Service Desk application is a centralized Web-based solution for self-service assistance which helps enforce performance based on Service Level Agreements (SLAs). With this application, organizations can professionally automate the functions of a service desk. The Service Desk integrates with the On Demand Work application and uses the same centralized catalog of Service Level Agreements.

Geospatial Extensions for ESRI - Delivers ARCHIBUS data and graphics within a range of ESRI products, such as ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server, ArcDesktop (including ArcScene), and ArcWeb Services. With these extensions, users can perform ad hoc queries that simultaneously combine the spatial aspects of GIS with the logical relationships within ARCHIBUS data. The solution geo-references the ARCHIBUS data and combines it with other GIS data sources. Users can also publish these combined solutions to the Web to give drill-down, thematic highlight and search capability to authorized users within the larger organization. These analyses can speed zoning, planning, safety, space planning, and infrastructure tasks. The extension to ArcWeb Services directly links ARCHIBUS Web Central to ESRI’s “on-demand” service, which delivers maps, geographic and demographic data via remote web services connections.

Overlay for Revit — An application that works inside of Autodesk Revit Architecture to provide many of the same features ARCHIBUS users currently utilize in the Overlay for AutoCAD. Unlike other solutions that rely on extract files from Revit, the Overlay for Revit provides a direct, “live” link between the Revit 3D CAD environment and the ARCHIBUS enterprise system. ARCHIBUS can also combine the results of many separate Revit models, AutoCAD Architecture plans, and AutoCAD drawings, so users can leverage all their CAD-related data without converting or redrawing any part of them.

Web Central - This Web-based release of ARCHIBUS upgrades a large number of existing forms and reports to take advantage of the rich-interface (AJAX) views that speed users through common actions. Within Web Central, you can also find other enhancements that include:

  • Web Central View Definition Wizard - A step-by-step wizard that lets users define new reports, data analyses and charts — or even new forms and search console views — right from its dialog interface.
  • Web Central Tree Control and Unlimited Tier Hierarchy Tree Control - Provides flexible, tree-style views of ARCHIBUS data to more quickly assemble forms that drill into complex or deeply nested data.

Domestic, International Release Schedule

The release of the English version of ARCHIBUS v17 will be followed by French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese editions, all of which will be available in March, 2008.
