ANDOVER, MA, Feb 10, 2009 - Aras, leading Microsoft enterprise open source software solution provider, today announced at SolidWorks World 2009 the release of advanced search capabilities seamlessly embedded in the Aras Innovator suite for enterprise Product Lifecycle Management [PLM]. The new Aras search functionality provides additional Software+Services options where queries submitted in the Aras on-premise enterprise PLM software access cloud-based search services in Microsoft Live Search and GlobalSpec, the most comprehensive engineering part, product, and specification database on the Web.

With the new Aras search functionality product development teams have the most powerful enterprise PLM software search capabilities ever available:

Parametric searching on GlobalSpec’s PartFinder and SpecSearch which access a library of over 24,000 OEM and distributor product catalogs spanning more than 180 million parts in 2.3 million product families
Full text searching on GlobalSpec’s Engineering Web vertical search engine index covering hundreds of millions of pages of product development content including engineering articles, technical research papers, material properties, product patents, standards, and more
Web searching using Microsoft’s Windows Live Search for instant access to the Internet

Aras search capabilities include the ability to save frequently used searches to My Saved Searches for additional convenience and instant reference. Complicated searches that are commonly conducted across the enterprise can be saved and shared to all users without creating custom reports to provide quick access to information such as “currently active engineering change orders” and “supplier qualification status”.
