Tekla Announces Construction Management Software
ESPOO,
Finland, Nov 1, 2007 - Getting more value out of building information
modeling (BIM) for the owners and contractors of construction projects has
lead Tekla Corporation to expand its Tekla Structures solution offering. The
Tekla Structures for Construction Management concept will be announced at
this year's Design-Build
Conference & Expo held in Dallas, Texas, from October 31 to November 2.
Upcoming for launch in 2008, Tekla Structures for Construction Management
is a platform of information-model-based solutions that supports
contractors, sub-contractors, and project management professionals by
centralizing project data into a visual 3 and 4-dimensional context.
Schedule and cost control can be realized by an effective and informed
communication and decision-making process that results from managing the
fragmented nature of both project planning and performance data.
"The Tekla model can be used to model the whole process from project
planning to site management, i.e. to plan and schedule the structures,
quantities and resources," says Heikki Haikonen, Director of the Contractor
Segment at Tekla. "Project managers can visualize the building in its
as-built condition, locate the task in the building, and show their team the
exact way to proceed."
"Tekla models are extremely rich in building geometry, properties, and
level of detail. They also provide the opportunity to store extensive
amounts of data, from pre-construction through construction phases, in our
visual 3-dimensional environment," adds Stacy Scopano, Business & Product
Development Manager at Tekla, Inc. "Globally projects have a number of
engineers and fabrication sub-contractors producing high quality models, and
these tools will help contractors leverage these deliverables further in the
Construction Management practice," he points out. Scopano will be present at
the Design-Build Conference & Expo in Dallas from October 31 to November 2
to demonstrate the concept and answer further questions.
In conclusion, Risto Raty, Executive Vice President of Tekla's Building &
Construction business area says: "Tekla wants to be the leading developer of
efficient BIM solutions for the construction industry. Getting more value
out of the building information model for our customers, as well as
streamlining the construction process, is important to us and has led us to
expand our software solution offering."

Tekla Structures
Tekla Structures software is a building information modeling (BIM) tool
that streamlines the delivery process of design, detailing, manufacturing,
and construction organizations. While integrating openly with architectural
models, its strength lies in the contractor end of the process. Thousands of
Tekla Structures software users in more than 80 countries have successfully
delivered BIM-based projects across the world.
Tekla Structures' ability to process extensive amounts of data enables
the creation of detailed 3D models that apply to every stage of design and
construction. From planning and design development through to fabrication
and installation, Tekla models naturally develop in parallel, representing
the "as-built" condition of a building. Tekla Structures effectively
integrates into any best-of-breed software driven workflow, while
maintaining the highest levels of data integrity and accuracy. Such
collaborative workflows are the key to minimizing errors and maximizing
efficiency, resulting in high profitability and on-time project completion.
Tekla Structures encompasses specialized configurations for structural
engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, precast concrete detailers and
manufacturers, as well as contractors.
Design-Build Conference & Expo
Organized by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), this year's
Design-Build Conference & Expo is held at Gaylord Texas in Grapevine Dallas,
U.S, from October 31 to November 2. This conference is the largest
Design-Build event in the world and this year's theme is "Don't Stop
Thinking about Tomorrow". According to the organizers, the conference offers
"three days of action-packed learning, education, training, communication,
networking, entertainment and fun." More information at
