Tekla Structures Integrates with CSI SAP2000 Open API
ESPOO,
Finland, Oct 11, 2007 - Tekla Corporation and Computers & Structures, Inc.
(CSI) have developed an enhanced interface between Tekla Structures and
SAP2000. The interface, which enables building design professionals to
collaborate more efficiently, will be presented at the
Structural Engineers'
Building Conference, the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco, on October
10-11.
Enhanced software integration for engineering offices
The link between Tekla Structures and SAP2000 allows for an improved
workflow within engineering offices. The integration utilizes the SAP2000
Open API (Application Programming Interfacing) and supports both steel and
concrete material data transfer.
The modeling of a structure begins in Tekla Structures. Once the model is
ready for analysis and design, it is sent directly to SAP2000 from within
the Tekla Structures environment. During analysis and design, users have
full access to the powerful features of SAP2000. Updates made to the model
in SAP2000 are passed seamlessly back to Tekla Structures. Furthermore,
subsequent changes can be made to the model in either environment.
Michael Gustafson, Product Manager for Engineering at Tekla Inc. in North
America, says: "We're happy to have worked with Computers & Structures, Inc.
to develop a more direct and intuitive interfacing between these two
software systems. The tighter integration between the systems will enhance
the structural engineering workflow for our customers."
"This integration between Tekla Structures and SAP2000 is an indication
of our commitment to BIM. The interface not only allows fast and direct
two-way updating of information between CSI products and third-party BIM
products, but also sustains a high level of integrity in the data transfer,
which is of paramount importance to our structural engineering user base,"
adds Ashraf Habibullah, President & CEO of CSI.
Interface demonstration at Structural Engineers Building Conference
The linking and enhanced workflow between the two software systems will
be demonstrated on October 10-11 at the Structural Engineers' Building
Conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco. More technical
information and workflow discussion will be available at the Tekla and CSI
booths of the trade show.
Tekla Structures
Tekla Structures software is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool
that streamlines the delivery process of design, detailing, manufacturing,
and construction organizations. While integrating openly with architectural
models, its strength lies at the contractor end of the process. Thousands of
Tekla Structures software users in more than 80 countries have successfully
delivered BIM-based projects around the world.
Tekla Structures' ability to process extensive amounts of data enables
the creation of detailed 3D models that can be applied to every stage of
design and construction. From planning and design development through to
fabrication and installation, Tekla models naturally develop in parallel,
representing the "as-built" condition of a building. Tekla Structures
effectively integrates into any best-of-breed software-driven workflow
through Tekla Open API, while maintaining the highest levels of data
integrity and accuracy. Such collaborative workflows are the key to
minimizing errors and maximizing efficiency, resulting in high profitability
and on-time project completion. Tekla Open API is a state-of-the-art
interface for collaboration between software systems in the building
industry. Tekla Structures encompasses specialized configurations for
structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, precast concrete
detailers and manufacturers, as well as contractors.
Tekla Corporation
Tekla is a leading international software company whose innovative
