Midas Creates Import Link to Software Using Tekla Open API
ESPOO,
Finland, Oct 10, 2008 - A link has been developed between Tekla Structures
software and midas Gen, a CAE program developed by midas IT. Midas Gen is a
structural analysis and optimal design system that supports the building
information modeling (BIM) functionality that Tekla Structures offers.
Midas IT created the import link to their software using the Tekla Open
API(TM) programming application developed by Tekla. The link will be
demonstrated by the Tekla reseller, Harpaceas, at the SAIE International
Building Exhibition in Bologna, Italy, October 15th-18th, 2008.
It is a major workflow enhancement to streamline the integration between
design and construction planning. Among other things, standardized
import-export links allow for seamless integration between the leading
software in the industry. Software compatibility ensures that structural
elements can be imported directly into a 3D model for structural analysis
and design, and then exported back, whenever required.
"Midas is pleased to announce the enhanced integration with Tekla.
Engineering offices benefit from an improved information flow to provide
faster and more accurate integrated 3D structural models to their
customers," comments Mr Sang Shim, Vice President at midas IT.
"At Tekla, we are really happy that our partners are so active in taking
advantage of the programming interface possibility with the Tekla Open API,"
says Ms Laura Virros, Director of Structural Engineering at Tekla
Corporation. "The link between Tekla and midas takes structural planning
workflow again one step further. We're proud to present the workflow in the
SAIE event in Italy," she continues.

About Tekla Structures
Tekla's technology creates new business opportunities for the
construction industry. The most advanced building information modeling (BIM)
solution on the market includes an accurate, dynamic and data-rich 3D
environment. The highly detailed 'as-built' digital structural models
generated with Tekla Structures software enable effective visualization and
management of the project. Effectively integrating model and non-model-based
software solutions allows using the building information model in
collaborative workflows. Tekla Structures users can streamline the design,
manufacturing, and construction processes, ultimately ensuring the highest
level of constructability in project delivery. Tekla Structures encompasses
specialized configurations for structural engineers, steel detailers and
fabricators, concrete detailers and manufacturers, and construction
companies.

Harpaceas was established in the late 1980s, in Milan, from the
professional experiences of a group of structural engineers offering
software and services for CAE and CAD/CAM applications. Total revenue of
2007 was approximately 3.35 million €, where 50% is from software and 50% is
from services (call-support, training course, training-on-the-job).
Harpaceas employs 25 Civil Engineers and Architects. Harpaceas serves
approximately 4,500 customers all over Italy with more than 8,000 software
licences distributed. These customers include engineering companies,
building contractors, professionals (Architects, Engineers), steel
fabricators, precast fabricators, public offices and universities. Some of
their clients include Italian engineering companies, such as Maire Tecnimont,
Italferr, Saipem, Snamprogetti, and Techint. Harpaceas is the Italian
