Dubai's Al Habtoor-Murray & Roberts Adopts Tekla BIM
ESPOO,
Finland, Aug 12, 2008 - Tekla Middle East recently closed a deal with Al
Habtoor-Murray & Roberts Joint Venture chosen to construct the Trump
International Hotel and Tower in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Murray & Roberts has invested in Tekla Structures BIM (Building Information
Modeling) software licenses to make the 62-storey structure and other major
projects in the future happen.
Murray & Roberts is a leading international construction and engineering
group with vast experience of delivering high quality developments across
the Middle East. In addition to the Trump Hotel and Tower, they will be
using Tekla modeling technology in several other projects, such as the Dubai
International Airport.
The Trump International Hotel & Tower is the only planned mixed-use
development in Dubai under the Trump name, bringing Donald Trump's
internationally respected brand cache and legendary implementation, service
standards and world class properties to the emirate for the first time. The
building will offer panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and a range of
exclusive leisure facilities including a private beach, yacht club, and a
multitude of fine dining experiences. The Trump contract is valued at AED
2.9 billion.
"Market and technology trends are good predictors of the near-term future
in any field, and BIM is no exception," says Mr. Tahir Sharif, Area Director
of Tekla Middle East. "The Al Habtoor-Murray & Roberts Joint Venture
selected Tekla Structures for the company-wide projects after an extensive
evaluation because the software provides complete control over the entire
project lifecycle. Global competition and new economic realities form an
ever changing market place in which we need to react to the demands of the
industry. Sophisticated owners are beginning to demand BIM and even change
contract terms to enable it. Tekla is uniquely placed to offer the Tekla
Structures BIM solution to the market."
"Al Habtoor-Murray & Roberts JV strategy is to gain competitive advantage
by the creation of value through integrated 3D modeling, planning and cost
management, whilst reducing traditional industry wastage in time, effort and
materials," says Ian Dunsire MSc, Commercial Director, at Murray & Roberts
Middle East "Improvement in our projects' initial detailing and submittals
production can be attained through modeling and BIM, with other commercial
advantages following on. Tekla Structures offers us just that; working
closely with the Tekla ME team has shown us that Tekla BIM is unique and
offers significant benefits to HMR as a class-leading contractor.
