ESPOO, Finland, May 4, 2007 - Tekla Corporation has signed a frame agreement on the purchase of Tekla Structures software licenses with the Lemminkäinen Group, a major operator in all sectors of the construction industry in Finland and internationally. The main contracting parties are Tekla, Lemcon Ltd and Oy Alfred A. Palmberg AB.

The agreement is another step for the Lemminkäinen Group in its bid to leverage BIM (Building Information Modeling) benefits for improved project delivery in the construction industry. By integrating Tekla Structures software into their existing set of project management methods, the Lemminkäinen Group intends to innovate the way in which the industry will use 3D modeling as a production steering and management tool for the building site. Tekla Structures will be used primarily by the two general contracting subsidiaries of the Lemminkäinen Group: Lemcon Ltd and Oy Alfred A. Palmberg AB, and by all of their subsidiaries.

"We very much want to be a forerunner in the business, and we have realized that making good use of information technology is the best way to boost our market position," says Business Development Manager Annikki Karppinen of Lemcon Oy.

Jukka Suomi, Product Manager of the Contractor Segment at Tekla Building & Construction, is pleased about the product development support and trust in Tekla's products demonstrated by the frame agreement with the Lemminkäinen Group: "This agreement is the first verification that the Tekla vision of construction management is becoming a reality. Using 3D structural models in building and construction is becoming everyday practice."

Tekla Structures

Tekla Structures software is a BIM tool that streamlines the delivery process of design, detailing, manufacturing, and construction organizations. While integrating openly with architectural models, its strength lies in the contractor end of the process. Thousands of Tekla Structures software users in more than 80 countries have successfully delivered BIM-based projects around the world.

Tekla Structures' ability to process extensive amounts of data enables the creation of detailed 3D models that can be applied to every stage of design and construction. From planning and design development through to fabrication and installation, Tekla models naturally develop in parallel, representing the "as-built" condition of a building. Tekla Structures effectively integrates into any best-of-breed software-driven workflow, while maintaining the highest levels of data integrity and accuracy. Such collaborative workflows are the key to minimizing errors and maximizing efficiency, resulting in high profitability and on-time project completion. Tekla Structures encompasses specialized configurations for structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, precast concrete detailers and manufacturers, as well as contractors.
