Ruukki to Use Tekla Structures for
Structural Steel Design
ESPOO,
Finland,
Apr 22, 2009 - Rautaruukki and Tekla have signed a strategic cooperation
agreement on the use of modeling software. Tekla Structures BIM (Building
Information Modeling) software will be used for structural steel design in
almost all countries in which Rautaruukki's construction division has a
presence.
Ruukki has used Tekla's BIM software for structural steel design,
fabrication, site operations, and development for a long time. For example,
Ruukki's solution for performance-based fire design, which was launched in the
autumn 2008, was modeled using Tekla Structures.
The cooperation agreement strengthens Tekla Structures' role in the
development of Ruukki's operations and services and promotes their objective to
provide high-quality customer service in all operating countries. For Ruukki and
Tekla's partners this means advanced services and fluent workflows; structural
engineers, for example, will find a wider selection of Ruukki's products within
Tekla Structures.
"Cooperation with Tekla supports Ruukki's strategy of becoming the leading
steel constructor in Europe," says Saku Sipola, President of Ruukki Construction
in Finland. "We offer solutions and components that speed up and streamline
construction processes. The use of quality software will support us in
fulfilling this objective and helps us improve and unify our customer service."
Ruukki's use of Tekla Structures as the main design tool in the company will
further strengthen Tekla's position on the market.
"Cooperation with Ruukki has been going on for a long time," says Tekla
Executive Vice President Risto Räty. "They have performed a scrutinized
evaluation of all BIM tools available on the market, compared experiences, and
chosen Tekla Structures. Ruukki and many other leading companies have realized
that it is in the best interests of the whole industry to utilize structural
models efficiently throughout the delivery chain, from conceptual design,
fabrication and project management all the way to site logistics and erection."
The agreement is valid from 22 April 2009.
