Dowco Technology to Distribute Tekla Structures in Canada
ESPOO,
Finland, February 21, 2007 - Dowco Consultants Ltd, one of Tekla's largest
global customers and a Tekla software reseller of 11 years, has established
Dowco Technology Services Ltd to handle the sales and marketing of Tekla's
complete product portfolio for building and construction.
In recent years, the 3D modeling software market for building and
construction has grown not only for the steel detailers but also for
engineering firms and pre-cast concrete detailers. As a result of this
growth, Dowco Consultants Ltd, has established a new company, Dowco
Technology Services, to handle Tekla sales and technical support. The new
company, headquartered in the greater Vancouver area, also has an office in
Montreal, to serve Quebec customers, and in Mississauga, to serve the
Ontario customers. These offices provide sales, technical support and
product training.
"We are committed to developing our relationship with Dowco and
supporting their needs as the Canadian customer base grows," says Risto Räty,
Executive Vice President of Building & Construction at Tekla Corporation.
"The Tekla office in North America has added personnel to help support this
growth as well as the growth in the United States."
"Until now, Dowco Consultants Ltd handled both the steel detailing
business and the Tekla software sales business; however, with the growth of
the industry and the increase in product offering, the separation became
obvious as a best solution for our customers," says Ewen Dobbie, President
of Dowco Technology Services.
"The benefits to Dowco Technology Services to continue under the Dowco
Consultants umbrella remain strong," Dobbie continues. "For example, our
ample supply of capable, experienced detailers, who are also Tekla
Structures users, remain at our disposal to provide technical support and
training to our customers. Applying the strength of Dowco Consultants will
remain after the separation. We still have the capability to draw upon those
resources in addition to our own dedicated staff whenever the need arises."
Tekla Structures
Tekla Structures software is a building information modeling (BIM) tool
that streamlines the delivery process of design, detailing, manufacture, and
construction organizations. While integrating openly with architectural
models, its strength lies in the contractor end of the process. Thousands of
Tekla Structures software users in more than 80 countries have successfully
delivered BIM-based projects across the world.
Tekla Structures' ability to process extensive amounts of data offers the
possibility to create detailed 3D models that apply to every stage of design
and construction. From planning and design development thru to fabrication
and installation, Tekla models naturally develop in parallel, representing
the "as-built" condition of a building. Tekla Structures effectively
integrates into any best-of-breed software driven workflow, while
maintaining the highest levels of data integrity and accuracy. Such
collaborative workflows are the cornerstone to minimizing errors and
maximizing efficiency, resulting in high profitability and on-time project
completion. Tekla Structures encompasses specialized configurations for
structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, precast concrete
detailers and manufacturers, as well as contractors.
