Tecplot 360, Focus 2009 R2 Released
BELLEVUE,
WA, Oct 23, 2009 - Tecplot, Inc. today released updates to the 2009 versions
of Tecplot 360 and Tecplot Focus that deliver greater speeds and larger data
set handling capabilities than ever before.
“We’re seeing ‘time to first image’ speeds that are up to two-and-a-half
times faster when tested on typical, middle-of-the-road hardware
configurations. This update also enables almost every engineer to handle
industrial-size data sets on their desktops,” said Mike Peery, Tecplot, Inc.
president and CEO. “Add that to the fact that Tecplot 360 remains the
easiest CFD visualization software out there and we’re delivering what our
customers have been asking for: speed, big data, and ease-of-use wrapped up
into one tool.”
Tecplot 360 is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) visualization and
analysis software that combines vital engineering plotting and advanced data
visualization into one tool. Enhancements to the 2009 R2 version of Tecplot
360 include:
- Faster handling, especially when working with large data sets - When
benchmarked on a16GB Linux server with 186M finite element data sets,
the time to first image is 2.5 times faster; slicing data is up to two
times faster; and animations are up 35% faster than the R1 version.
- Windows 7 and HP/UX Itanium support - The R2 version has been fully
tested and is compatible with Microsoft’s new operating system. Support
for HP/UX running on Itanium hardware also has been added.
- License manager support for virtualization - Those using Tecplot 360
in virtualized mission-critical work can be assured of rapid recovery in
the event of server or IT disasters.
Tecplot Focus is engineering plotting software designed to help users
quickly plot, analyze and present engineering and test data. Focus users who
upgrade to the latest version also will enjoy faster handling with larger
data sets, Windows 7 support, and license manager support for
virtualization.
