Roland Adds Mesh Printing Capabilities to AJ-1000 Printer
IRVINE,
California, February 22, 2007 - Roland DGA Corporation, a leading
provider of wide-format inkjet printers and integrated
print/cutters, has introduced a new optional mesh printing unit for
the 104” AdvancedJET AJ-1000, an industrial grand-format solvent
printer and the company’s fastest inkjet to date.

Engineered for high-volume production of banners, billboards,
signage and other durable graphics, the AJ-1000 now supports unlined
mesh media, ideal for outdoor graphics that may be exposed to
excessive wind or any application calling for the unique sheer look
of mesh.
The AJ-1000 mesh printing unit attaches and detaches easily from
the AJ-1000 and features a built-in drainage system for easy removal
of excess ink. Support for unlined media makes it highly economical
to produce mesh graphics with the AJ-1000.
“Mesh can add drama, texture and durability to virtually any
graphic from banners to building wraps,” said Ken VanHorn, senior
product manager for Roland. “We are pleased to offer our customers
this new unit which expands their creative options and allows them
to take full advantage of industry-leading AJ-1000 technology.”
Mesh Media
Mesh is a lightweight material that is tightly woven and very
strong. Among its many advantages, it eliminates the need to cut
wind holes. Mesh media images well with solvent inks, is ideal for
exterior graphics, and often features flame-retardant and
tear-resistant properties.
AdvancedJET AJ-1000
As the fastest and most advanced grand-format printer in its
class, the AJ-1000 achieves a maximum production speed of 968 sqft./hr.
The AJ-1000 features Eco-Xtreme ink for brilliant 6-color CMYK+LcLm
graphics. Eco-Xtreme delivers dense, rich colors and an exceptional
gamut that together ensure beautiful, consistent prints every time.
Superior ink bonding and rugged scratch and alcohol resistance
provide lasting durability for images that maintain their quality
outdoors for three years or longer.
To support long production runs and unattended printing, the
AJ-1000 comes equipped with high-capacity 1 liter ink cartridges, an
advanced ink delivery system that allows replacement of cartridges
without pausing, and a heavy-duty media handling system for rolls
weighing up to 220 pounds. The AJ-1000 also features VersaWorks, a
powerful RIP software developed by Roland engineers to maximize the
company’s inkjet technology.
