Ascent Offers 3 Civil 3D 2008 Training Guides
MISSISSAUGA,
ON, Oct 4, 2007 – RAND A Technology Corporation (TSX: RND), operating
as RAND Worldwide, a global leader in providing technology solutions to
organizations with engineering design and information technology
requirements, today announced that its courseware division, ASCENT - Center
for Technical Knowledge released three updated training guides for Civil 3D
2008 software: Civil 3D 2008 Fundamentals, Civil 3D 2008 Survey, and Civil
3D 2008 Introduction for Site Grading Plans.
"Continuously enhancing application skills is essential for every civil
engineer to reduce risk of error, improve data collaboration and drive
faster project completion," said Joe Oswald, Executive Vice President, PLM
Operations, North America and Europe, RAND Worldwide. "Our three new Civil
3D titles provide quick and thorough instruction that allows users to
increase their necessary skill sets in the latest Civil 3D software
release."
- The Civil 3D 2008 Fundamentals training guide has been
significantly enhanced to include a more detailed and highly focused
teaching approach. The course teaches civil engineers who are new to the
Civil 3D(R) 2008 software environment how to use the application and its
tools to create standardized civil engineering, drafting, and GIS projects.
The training enables students to complete transportation, site, sewer, storm
drain, and subdivision projects quickly, while using the tools to
dynamically link and generate automatic design updates, which reduce costly
errors. The course contains six comprehensive modules focusing on the
application interface; surfaces, alignments, profiles and production tools;
assemblies, corridors and sections; pipes and grading; and parcels.
- Civil 3D 2008 Survey title is an extension to ASCENT's Civil 3D
2008 Fundamentals course. This one-day course targets civil engineers,
surveyors, and survey technicians who require further training in survey
functionality and seek to gain additional familiarity within the application
for data collection, traverses and adjustments and other related topics.
- Civil 3D 2008 Introduction for Site Grading Plans provides two
days of introductory level site grading plan instruction to new users of
Civil 3D(R) 2008. The course is formatted in ASCENT's newly released Project
Workbook format, which is entirely exercise-based, as opposed to the
company's traditional lecture and lab formatted training guides and
curriculum. The workbook assists students in learning how to develop feature
lines and grading tools to create a commercial site containing a parking
lot, building pad and a pond through a hands-on learning approach. The
course provides an existing road area and conditions in the survey that were
collected by an actual survey team.
ASCENT is an Authorized Author, Publisher and Developer of Autodesk
curriculum. All of the company's Autodesk courses are available to
educational institutions, individuals, and corporations.
ASCENT is planning to release a number of courses this fall including its
Vault 6: Data Management for Inventor Users and Civil 3D Introduction to
Corridor Design training guides later this fall. The company's complete
courseware lineup for Autodesk, Dassault Systèmes and PTC software solutions
can be seen at
