MISSISSAUGA, ON, Apr 23, 2008 – RAND Worldwide, a global leader in providing technology solutions to organizations with engineering design and information technology requirements, announced today that its courseware division, ASCENT – Center for Technical Knowledge, released three updated training guides for Autodesk 2009 software:

  • AutoCAD 2009 Update for 2008 Users
  • AutoCAD 2009 Fundamentals
  • Inventor 2009 Introduction to Modeling

ASCENT’s AutoCAD 2009 Update for AutoCAD 2008 Users training guide introduces AutoCAD 2009 users to the application’s enhancements to the primary methods of selecting command tools, the Ribbon and Menu Browser. The training courseware also provides users with an in-depth focus on the workflow for using annotative objects and annotation scales, Quick View Layouts and Quick View Drawings, as well as the new DWFx file format and Autodesk Design Review.

The AutoCAD 2009 Fundamentals training guide provides both new and existing AutoCAD 2009 users with the skills required to successfully create 2D drawings. It helps users understand the workspace and interface, teaches them how to use basic drawing, editing, and viewing tools, and how to add text, hatching, and dimensions to a file. In addition, the course focuses on more advanced techniques to further refine a user’s skill sets. Users learn advanced editing and construction techniques, how to create local and global blocks, and set up layers, and templates.

The Inventor 2009 Introduction to Solid Modeling training guide teaches Inventor 2009 users the best approaches to parametric design philosophy through a hands-on, practice-intensive curriculum. Users acquire the knowledge to complete the process of designing models, from conceptual sketching through to solid modeling, assembly design, and drawing production.

“As a leader in providing high-quality, professional training guides for Autodesk software, ASCENT is involved on Autodesk's Beta development with access to pre-production software to ensure immediate release of updates to our title library,” said Joe Oswald, Executive Vice-President, PLM Operations, North American and Europe, RAND Worldwide. “By doing so, we are able to release relevant training materials within one week of the Product Release, allowing our clients to stay current with software enhancements.”

ASCENT is an Authorized Author, Publisher and Developer of the Autodesk curriculum. All of the company’s Autodesk courses are available to educational institutions, individuals, and corporations.
