Planit CEO Bryan Pryce Gets 2008 Gatwick Deals Award
SOUTHFIELD,
MI, Oct 1, 2008 - Bryan Pryce, CEO of Planit Holdings, lifted the
Entrepreneurial Dealmaker of the Year award at this year’s prestigious
Gatwick Deals Awards ceremony. “It is an absolute honor to win this
category,” he says.

Presented by comedian and writer Dominic Holland at a glittering black-tie
dinner at The Castle, Saint Hill Manor, East Grinstead, on Thursday 18
September 2008, The Gatwick Deals Awards bring together representatives of
banks, private equity firms, law firms and accountants to celebrate their
deal successes over the past 12 months.
Hosted by The Business Magazine, The Gatwick Deals Awards were
launched in 2007 and more than 250 of the top names in the corporate finance
community attended the inaugural dinner. This year again more than 250
attended the influential event and a total of 175 nominations were received
for the Gatwick Deals Awards 2008.
Explaining the business deal that provided the foundation for his award
entry, Bryan Pryce says: “Having identified the strategic value of the
retail division of Planit Holdings, which was very profitable with a
turnover of £7 million, a £19 million deal was brokered with a Canadian
group that had identified a gap in its product portfolio.” The buyer was
also keen to establish a foothold within the European market and Bryan Pryce
highlighted the geographical and financial benefits of the deal. “A business
sale at nearly three times turnover is unusual in our sector, but I was sure
of the benefits to both parties and held fast on the price and terms of the
transaction,” he says.
Each nomination was independently adjudicated by a panel of selected
experts, who produced a shortlist for each of the eight categories. The
Entrepreneurial Dealmaker of the Year award is a new category, sponsored by
PricewaterhouseCoopers, and is the only award to be presented to a business
leader as opposed to a member of the professional community.
“This category is for the real businessmen and women out there who are
leading deals and managing their companies through key mergers or
acquisitions,” explains David Murray, publisher of The Business Magazine.
He states the category recognizes entrepreneurs in businesses throughout the
region who have led deals in the past year, “including ‘serial’ dealmakers
with a track record of securing significant acquisitions or disposals.” About Planit
