Planit to Present EdgeCAM 2009 R1 at IMTS 2008
 SOUTHFIELD,
MI, Aug 12, 2008 - Planit will demonstrate EdgeCAM 2009 R1, the newest
version of its powerful CAM software, at IMTS
2008. Attendees will see how they can benefit from EdgeCAM’s newest
features showcased in booth D-3224 in the East Hall. IMTS – the
International Machine Tool Show – will be held at McCormick Place in
Chicago, September 8-13, 2008.
“We continually expand EdgeCAM’s powerful multi-axis machining
capabilities to ensure our customers can realize the full potential of
today’s complex machine tools,” said Raf Lobato, software development
director for Planit’s Metals Business.
EdgeCAM 2009 R1 features superior machining efficiencies and increased
automation tools within the milling, turning and mill/turn environments. New
programming and usability features include:
- Improved Rest Finishing Cycle featuring support for all tool types,
which provides more flexible cycles, optimized toolpath and faster cycle
generation
- Advanced new rough turning cycle providing increased efficiencies
and improved control of the machining process including notch avoidance
- Expanded 5-Axis capabilities to include nutated head/rotary table
configurations
- 5-Axis cycles now check linear limits to alert users if their
selected machine is unable to produce a specific feature
- New enhancements to Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) within Solid
Machinist resulting in faster automated programming and optimized cycle
time while retaining flexibility for individual changes
Also featured at IMTS will be EdgeCAM Probing, an intuitive and powerful
tool for automatically generating and simulating spindle probing routines
for horizontal and vertical machining centers direct from CAD geometry, and
EdgeCAM Strategy Manager, a process that captures and automates your best
machining practice for constant repeatability and optimized results for
today demanding manufacturing marketplace.
