Alphacam to Launch Alphastone v7.5 for Machining Stone
SOUTHFIELD,
MI, Feb 20, 2008 - Leading CAD/CAM software developer Alphacam will be
launching Alphastone V7.5, the latest release of its advanced machining
software for stone working applications, and exhibiting its new Part Modeler
design program for the first time in the UK on stand P26 at the
Natural Stone Show
taking place at Excel London, 11-13 March.
Enhancements to Alphastone V7.5's geometry creation and feature
recognition functionality are backed by a series of productivity
improvements that includes simple positioning of machine stops, enhanced
clamping and additional support for 5-axis machining. The latest release
also offers an oscillating toolpath option that ensures consistent wear
along the face of the cutting tool. In addition, V7.5 incorporates Auto
styles, an extension of Alphacam's existing machining styles capabilities,
which permits sequences of styles to be grouped together and assigned to
specific layers of the model.
Alphacam's new Part Modeler provides a low cost, protected upgrade route
for companies looking to migrate from 2D to 3D solid modeling by
delivering around 80% of the functionality of premium design software
packages at less than 20% of their cost.
The new Windows XP and Vista-compliant software incorporates a wide range
of advanced geometry creation tools, as well as direct data import from
SolidWorks, Solid Edge and popular DWG, STEP and IGES formats. It also
enables users to easily extract any required components from imported
assemblies for subsequent modification, updating or manipulation.
Using intuitive CAD tools, the Part Modeler allows users to create and
store libraries of company-standard component profiles, along with
parametrically-driven products and assemblies. New members of product
families can be generated in moments, simply by entering numerical values
within a Microsoft Excel (or equivalent) spreadsheet. Full associativity is
retained between components within the structure, ensuring that individual
parts and associated machining toolpaths are updated as new parametric
values are specified.
The new icon-driven modeler provides a seamless front end to Alphacam's
programming software with the ability to import and manipulate product
models and clamping configurations at will, before generating fully defined
machining programs at the touch of a button. The new Part Modeler will also
output data in SolidWorks, Solid Edge, STEP, IGES or DWG formats and
supports STL output for rapid prototyping operations. Furthermore, it will
create fully dimensioned, manufacturing diagrams and assembly drawings on
demand.
"The complementary capabilities of Alphastone and Part Modeler dovetail
to provide an unbeatable combination, enabling users to significantly cut
their design to manufacturing lead-times," says Alphacam's sales director
Martin Measures. "These benefits, along with the machining accuracy
delivered by our programming software, are keys to success in today's
ultra-competitive stone working sector."
