Microdesk Becomes Autodesk Seek Content Service Provider
NASHUA,
NH, Feb 23, 2010 – AECO industry consultant and Autodesk Gold Partner,
Microdesk, Inc., has become an Autodesk Seek Content Service Provider. As a
Provider, Microdesk will begin contributing 2D and 3D models of building
products to the Autodesk Seek web service so they can be used in the
Building Information Modeling (BIM) process.
Autodesk Seek (http://seek.autodesk.com)
allows design professionals to search for specific building product
manufacturer design files, such as ceiling systems, ductwork, doors, chairs,
or even trees, directly from their Autodesk design applications or via a web
browser. These 3D models, 2D drawings, visual images, or part and product
specifications can then be integrated directly into building designs helping
designers make more accurate decisions earlier in the design process.
“Microdesk has been creating BIM content for years” said Jody Reynolds,
Director of Technical Specialists for Microdesk. “By formalizing our
relationship and becoming an authorized Autodesk Seek Content Service
Provider, we now have the opportunity to increase the value we provide to
architects, engineers and building product manufacturers by distributing the
high quality components we have and will continue to build.”
Microdesk’s designation as a Seek Content Service Provider benefits the
building product manufacturers whose products are modeled and featured in
Seek. A manufacturer’s product that is “designed in” at the project’s outset
can lead to earlier product selection and higher sales. This allows building
product manufacturers to become more integrated into the BIM process by
increasing collaboration with the project team from design through
construction.
